The idea that there is anyone in the world who doesn’t share our enthusiasm for tasty treats is, well, a bit far-fetched. Food, snacks, and sweets come in a wide variety due to the country’s many ethnicities.

Local cuisine and methods of preparation vary from one area to the next. There is no one who can say no to the irresistible flavor combination of exotic herbs and spices that gives this dish its signature flair. There is a seemingly endless variety of delicious Indian appetizers. Indians adore their snacks, and several varieties, including bhujia, namkeen, papad, chana combination, chat papadi, Bombay mix namkeen, and chatpata sev, are particularly popular.

It’s a feat in itself to provide what most Indians want. Bikaji Foods International Ltd. is one such firm that has consistently provided the highest quality snacks to customers across the country and beyond the world.

Bikaji is a well-known Indian snack and candy manufacturer, and its history is the subject of this article. Learn about its history, founder, company strategy, revenue model, and competition.

Company Highlights-

Headquartered in Bikaner, Rajasthan, Bikaji is one of the leading brands in the Food and Beverage Industry of the country. Its founder is Shri Shivratan Agarwal who founded the company in 1987. The company’s current turnover is Rs 500 – Rs 1000 crore. The company’s  website link is www.bikaji.com

About Bikaji-

Shri Shivratan Agarwal started the brand Bikaji in 1987 with the goal of providing a flavour of authentic India to consumers throughout. The company behind this product used to be known as Shivdeep Industries Ltd.

His motivation came from Bika Rao, the founder of Bikaner and Ji. As a tribute to him, the company adopted the name “Bikaji.” So that the name will be remembered for years to come, he decided on something simple.

As a result of technological limitations, the company didn’t start out making bhujia until much later. In India, Bikaji’s history began there. Shivratan began shipping Bikaji abroad in 1994 when he began shipping to the United Arab Emirates.

Bikaji only uses raw materials from the highest quality category and market. Materials are prepared in a sterile, human-free setting before being packaged in a machine-operated storefront.

Bikaji – Industry

Bikaji is now recognized as a top name in India and beyond in the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) industry. Bhujia, namkeen, papad, and frozen sweets are Bikaji’s mainstays.

Revenue from the food and beverage sector is projected to increase by 14.2% each year in India through 2024. Growing urbanization and a larger share of the youthful population, who have different consumer preferences, are expected to propel the industry.

Bikaji – Founders and Team

Shivratan Agarwal

In 1987, Shivrantan Agarwal, the visionary grandson of Haldiram’s founder, Mr. Gangabishan Agarwal, set out to fulfill his dream of making the delectable Bikaneri Bujhia available to everyone. Previously, he advertised his wares as being made by Shivdeep Industries Limited. In 1993, he came up with the brand name in honor of the city’s namesake.

Bikaji is now one of India’s (and India’s diaspora’s) most popular and well-liked brands. Shivratan Agarwal has been working in the food service industry for close to twenty-five years. He leads Bikaji as its Chairman and Permanent Director.

Deepak Agarwal

He’s been working in the field for 20 years and is now the Managing Director of Bikaji. His master’s degree in management was earned at Mumbai’s S.P. Jain Institute of Management & Research.

Shweta Agarwal

Shweta Agarwal is the Full-Time Director of Bikaji. She received her BA and MA in Arts (English) from Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati University, Ajmer.

Name, Tagline, and Logo

Shivratan took inspiration for the company name from Bika Rao, the city’s namesake and namesake. Bikaner, the city built by a Rathore ruler, is famous for its warm welcome to visitors. The city’s cultural diversity and culinary offerings are shining jewels in its crown.

Amitabh Bachchan has been hired as the official spokesperson for Bikaji in 2019. The tagline for the company is “Amitji loves Bikaji”.

Mission and Vision

The company’s goal is to use cutting-edge R&D techniques to create premium ingredients. The company’s long-term goal is to establish itself as one of the world’s preeminent producers of food and snacks.

Bikaji’s long-term strategy is to continue expanding internationally while continuing to meet the needs of all of its current and potential clients and other stakeholders. They hope to win repeat business by providing products of consistently excellent quality and responding quickly to customers’ evolving needs.

The fact that Rajasthan, Assam, and Bihar account for about 71.87% of the company’s total sales is one of the most difficult things for Bikaji to deal with. Any disruption to their operations as a result of external factors in these key markets is likely to have a significant impact on their bottom line.

Bikaneri Bhujia is their best-selling product and accounts for nearly a third of their total revenue. However, the greatest danger they face is that there is only one factory in all of Bikaner that produces bhujia, and if anything were to happen to that factory, things would be disastrous for Bikaji.

Business And Revenue Model-

Six of the company’s Indian factories are now producing goods. Having four establishments in Bikaner (Rajasthan), one in Guwahati (Assam), and one in Tumakuru (Karnataka).

Nearly 35 nations outside of India are where the brand’s exports bring in the most money. These include markets in North America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and the Asia Pacific. The company is proud of its extensive global coverage. In total, 22 Indian states and 3 union territories are covered by their services.

The major products manufactured by Bikaji are:

  • Bhujia
  • Namkeen
  • Papad
  • Western Snacks
  • Packaged Sweets

The top 3 competitors of Bikaji are-

  • Fatlite
  • Jethabhai & Sons Foods & Snacks
  • Yuvraj Food

Future Plans-

The goal of the brand is to be the gold standard in the fast-moving consumer goods industry by providing high-quality items to consumers all over the world.
