Zomato shares surge 7.7% after JP Morgan raises target price to INR 340

Shares of foodtech giant Zomato jumped 7.7% on the BSE today, hitting an intraday peak of INR 261.50 after JP Morgan increased its target price for the stock to INR 340 from INR 208.

This is Zomato’s second highest target price, coming after CLSA‘s adjustment to INR 353 per share, while maintaining an “overweight” rating on the stock.

BigBasket to phase out slotted deliveries, merge BBdaily into main app

Tata’s BigBasket plans to merge its BBdaily subscription service with its main app in the next few months to enhance its foothold in the burgeoning quick commerce market.

At present, BigBasket runs two distinct apps: BigBasket for standard grocery deliveries and BBdaily for subscriptions. The main app offers both 2-3 hour delivery slots through BigBasket Supersaver and 10-20 minute delivery options via BBnow.

BigBasket is simplifying its services by merging all offerings into one app, moving away from the previously fragmented approach of separate divisions.

Britannia in talks to acquire Guwahati-based Kishlay Foods

Britannia Industries is in talks to acquire a majority stake in Kishlay Foods, a Guwahati-based manufacturer of western and ethnic snacks, biscuits, sweets, potato chips, noodles, and tea, valued at around INR 600-700 crore, according to ET, citing sources.

“The deal is currently in the due diligence stage,” said one of the executives. Established in 2001 by Sandeep Bajaj and Krishna Bajaj as a biscuit manufacturer, Kishlay Foods has evolved into “one of the largest snack food producers in Northeast India,” featuring brands such as Non-Stop, Kishlay, and Mamooz, according to its website.

Tracxn’s valuation report on Kishlay Foods indicates that the company achieved annual revenue of $41.8 million (around INR 350 crore) for the fiscal year ending March 2023.
