Does Low-Calorie Meals do any good for weight loss?

0

Low-calorie meal plans are often touted as an effective way to lose weight. But what is a low-calorie diet, and is it actually good for weight loss?

A low-calorie diet is a diet that restricts the daily intake of calories to a specific number, typically lower than what a person normally consumes. It is a popular weight loss strategy that promises to help individuals lose weight by reducing their caloric intake. The idea is that by eating fewer calories than the body burns, the body will be forced to use stored fat for energy, leading to weight loss.

While the concept of low-calorie diets is straightforward, the science behind it is a bit more complex. Here’s a closer look at what the research says about low-calorie diets and weight loss.

How Low is Low?

The definition of a low-calorie diet can vary, but it typically ranges from 800 to 1,200 calories per day for women and 1,200 to 1,800 calories per day for men. This may sound like a small amount of food, but it’s important to remember that these are just guidelines and that individual needs will vary based on age, gender, height, weight, and activity level.

Advantages of Low-Calorie Diets

One of the main benefits of low-calorie diets is that they can lead to rapid weight loss. Because the body is receiving fewer calories, it will be forced to use stored fat for energy, which can result in significant weight loss in a short amount of time. Additionally, low-calorie diets can also improve overall health markers such as cholesterol levels, blood pressure, and blood sugar levels.

Disadvantages of Low-Calorie Diets

While low-calorie diets can result in quick weight loss, they also have some drawbacks. Firstly, they can be difficult to stick to, as the restrictions on caloric intake can leave people feeling hungry and deprived. This can lead to overeating or giving into unhealthy cravings, which can sabotage weight loss efforts.

Another disadvantage of low calorie diets is that they can slow down metabolism, as the body adjusts to the decrease in caloric intake. This can make it more difficult to lose weight and keep it off in the long term.

In addition, low-calorie diets can also lead to muscle loss, as the body may break down muscle tissue for energy if it isn’t receiving enough calories from food. This can be especially problematic for athletes and those who engage in regular exercise.

Finally, low-calorie diets can be nutritionally inadequate, as they often restrict certain food groups, such as carbohydrates or fats. This can lead to deficiencies in important nutrients and vitamins that are necessary for overall health and well-being.

Is a Low-Calorie Diet Right for You?

A low-calorie diet may be an effective weight loss strategy for some people, but it’s important to consider the potential drawbacks and whether or not it’s the right choice for you. If you’re considering a low-calorie diet, it’s best to speak with your healthcare provider or a registered dietitian to determine if it’s a safe and effective option for you.

In conclusion, low-calorie diets can lead to quick weight loss, but they also have some disadvantages. They can be difficult to stick to, slow down metabolism, lead to muscle loss, and be nutritionally inadequate. Whether or not a low-calorie diet is right for you will depend on your individual needs and goals, as well as your overall health and well-being. If you’re considering a low-calorie diet, it’s important to speak with a healthcare professional or registered dietitian to determine if it

Cloud Kitchen Startup BigSpoon joins Mouni Roy to launch Pizza brand, The People People

0
Mouni Roy The Pizza People

Cloud Kitchen start-up Bigspoon has joined hands with celebrity investor Mouni Roy to launch their neo-pizza brand. The Pizza People, a Neapolitan-style pizza brand that is exclusively available for delivery. With 35 outlets in 15 cities across India, The Pizza People is also India’s largest pizza brand launch in a single day.

The Pizza People aims to fill the gap in the market for hot and premium pizzas at a competitive price. The pizzas are made with premium ingredients such as imported toppings and cheese on a base made from Australian wheat and are packaged in vented boxes to maintain temperature and freshness during delivery.

Kapil Mathrani, Co-Founder and CEO, BigSpoon, said, “We are excited to announce the launch of our bespoke Pizza brand, The Pizza People with Mouni. Her hands-on approach to brand building and her massive popularity add immense value to Bigspoon. Despite the size of the market, premium pizzas have been an underserved category in the delivery market of India, due to a lack of standardization of food, lack of attention to packaging, and most large brands being franchisee-led. Bigspoon operates only company-owned outlets to maintain the highest degree of quality and processes. We would be doubling our outlet count in the next couple of months, to bring the finest pizzas across the country, and also launch internationally in the next quarter.”

Mouni Roy, Investor cum Food and Pizza Lover, said, “I have always been a huge foodie and I am thrilled to be able to share my love for it with everyone. The Pizza People is dedicated to providing customers with the highest quality pizzas with the freshest ingredients. I can’t wait for everyone to try our delicious pizzas and be a part of the TPP family.”

Bigspoon is an omnichannel, multi-brand cloud kitchen start-up that has been operational since September 2019. The company recently raised INR 100 Cr in its Series-A equity funding round from investors including IAN, NB VC, Go Ventures, and Anicut.

With the launch of The Pizza People, Bigspoon aims to bring premium, hot pizzas to customers across India and beyond.

Novotel Mumbai Juhu Beach

Novotel Mumbai Juhu Beach, an Accor hotel, has taken an innovative step in reducing its environmental impact by installing a bottling plant at its property. This plant will provide guests with an alternative to using disposable plastic bottles, which contribute to the growing issue of waste in landfills.

The bottling plant is designed to not only reduce the carbon footprint of the hotel but also raise awareness about the importance of sustainability and provide a solution for sustainable living practices. With a capacity of 250 litres per hour, the plant is capable of producing up to 2000 bottles of mineralized water each day.

Accor hotels, the parent company of Novotel Mumbai Juhu Beach, are committed to reducing single-use plastics across their properties worldwide and the installation of this bottling plant is a significant step towards achieving that goal. The hotel hopes to not only make a difference with this initiative but also inspire its guests to adopt more sustainable practices in their daily lives.

In addition to the bottling plant, the hotel is making other efforts towards sustainability, such as offering wet amenities in dispensers, using dry amenities made from corn starch and wrapped in paper, and using paper to wrap tea, coffee, and milk sachets. These efforts demonstrate the hotel’s dedication to protecting the environment and making a positive impact on the world.

Manmeet Singh, Director of Operations at Novotel Mumbai Juhu Beach, said, “The plant installed at Novotel Mumbai Juhu Beach will reuse used plastic bottles and cups, reducing the amount of waste that ends up in landfills. Goa Tourism Minister inaugurates the State Chapter of National Restauarnts Association of India

0

Nearly half of Goa’s population is dependent on the restaurant industry, with almost half of the money spent by tourists going towards food and drink, according to the head of the National Restaurant Association of India’s newly established Goa chapter, Prahlad Sukhtankar.

The National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI) is an organization dedicated to promoting and supporting the restaurant industry in India. It is a national level body that represents the interests of restaurateurs, café owners, and other food-service businesses.

The association works to provide its members with resources and support, including advocacy on industry-related issues, networking opportunities, and access to industry-specific information and training. The main objective of the NRAI is to promote the growth and success of the restaurant industry in India and to ensure that the rights and interests of its members are protected.

The findings from a recent study highlight the importance of restaurants, cafes, bars, and clubs to the Goan economy. Sukhtankar stated that “for every rupee spent in Goa, 50 paise is directly spent on food and beverage, as it is the main activity here.”

“People go to restaurants, bars, and nightclubs where they consume food and drinks,” he added.

Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte inaugurated the Goa chapter of the NRAI at a resort in Dona Paula. He welcomed the establishment of the chapter and mentioned that it would act as a platform for restaurateurs to voice their concerns to the government for prompt resolution.

Although Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant was unable to attend the event, in a video message he urged the food and beverage industry to come together, exchange ideas, and share best practices.
