The year 2022 is winding down, and it has felt like it has gone by in a flash. This year saw the emergence of a lot of tasty culinary trends. For instance, overnight oats were a popular recipe that many people were looking for online. Meanwhile, Swiggy reported that Biryani was, once again, the most popular dish bought through the service.

Another recent analysis from INOX, a major theater chain, provides interesting data about the eating habits of moviegoers in 2022. The article claimed that there was a city in India where momos were more popular than in Delhi. What you need to know is listed below.

INOX Theaters has just unveiled its 2022 Cinema Food Report, which sums up the preferences of 70 million moviegoers when it comes to concessions. If you can believe it, Kolkata is home to more momos than Delhi. In 2022, 10.96 million dim sums were prepared, with a staggering 2.21 million ordered in Kolkata alone. The report said that Delhi only had 79,436 pieces.

Popular products included popcorn and soft drinks, but a unique Indian dish that was popular during the movies was samosa. In 2022, the theater reportedly sold 19.38 million samosas, a number that, if placed end to end, would stretch from Mumbai to Valsad, a distance of 179 kilometers.

French fries, sandwiches, burgers, and pizza were all big hits with theatergoers’ taste buds. In 2022, the most frequently requested beverages were cola, chai, coffee, and green tea. According to the article, vegan burgers have also attracted a lot of attention.

Notably, the Indians surveyed in the study also showed a penchant for sweets. The most popular concessions at the movies were frozen treats like ice cream and pastries. Foodies also flocked to restaurants serving desi-Chinese fares, such as dim sum, noodles, and fried rice.
