Tastes like Food for prisoners, Women complains about Bad Quality Food Served on Indian Trains

Published:

In recent times, Indian Railways has been receiving a considerable number of complaints regarding the quality of food being served on their trains. One such instance was when a passenger named Bhumika shared a picture on Twitter on a Sunday, showing the food being served to her by the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC).

She complained that the food tasted like prison food and tagged the IRCTC’s official Twitter handle, asking them if they ever tasted their own food and whether they would serve such low-quality food to their own family and children.

This incident attracted widespread attention on social media and highlighted the issue of the quality of food being served on Indian trains.

She wrote “It tastes like food for prisoners. The ticket prices are increasing day by day but you are providing the same bad quality food to your customers.”

In another incident, a passenger named Viresh Narkar, traveling on the Mumbai-Shirdi Vande Bharat Express, shared a photo of the dusty cornflakes that were being served on the train. He also complained about the lack of privacy in the Executive Class, which is located in the middle of the train. He shared his frustration on Twitter, and his tweets went viral on social media, highlighting the issue of poor quality food being served on trains.

In response to Viresh’s complaint, the Indian Railways assured him that his complaint had been registered on RailMadad, and a complaint number had been sent to his mobile phone. The Mumbai-Sainagar Shirdi Vande Bharat Express takes over 5 hours to cover a distance of 343 km to the temple town, and the ticket prices for a one-way journey without catering service range from ₹840 to ₹1670 for chair car and executive chair car, respectively. With catering service, the prices are ₹975 and ₹1840, respectively.

The incidents raised important questions regarding the quality of food being served on Indian trains and highlighted the need for the Indian Railways to take appropriate measures to address the issue. It also underlined the importance of passenger feedback, which can help Indian Railways identify areas for improvement and ensure that passengers have a comfortable and enjoyable experience while traveling on their trains.
