Starbucks expands Coffee Offerings once again; introduces Olive Oil Coffee Drinks In Italy

Starbucks has always been known for its innovation in the coffee industry. From introducing unique flavors to customizing its products based on local preferences, the company has been successful in catering to the diverse tastes of its customers. The latest addition to the Starbucks menu, the Oleato line, is no exception. By infusing extra virgin olive oil into its coffee beverages, Starbucks is once again pushing the boundaries of traditional coffee offerings.

The Oleato line will be available at the Starbucks Reserve Roastery Milan, which is the company’s largest store in Europe. It will also be introduced in Starbucks stores across Italy, starting from February 22, 2023. The three drinks in the Oleato line are the Oleato Caffè Latte, which is a classic latte infused with extra virgin olive oil, the Oleato Iced Shaken Espresso, which is a refreshing and unique take on the traditional iced coffee, and the Oleato Golden Foam Cold Brew, which combines the rich and smooth taste of cold brew with a hint of olive oil.

Howard Schultz, CEO of Starbucks, said, “I was absolutely stunned at the unique flavour and texture created when the Partanna extra virgin olive oil was infused into Starbucks coffee,” Schultz said. “In both hot and cold coffee beverages, what it produced was an unexpected, velvety, buttery flavour that enhanced the coffee and lingers beautifully on the palate,” he further added.

Schultz further said, “Now, there’s going to be people who say, “Olive oil in coffee? But the proof is in the cup. In over 40 years, I can’t remember a moment in time where I’ve been more excited, more enthused that demonstrates the pride, the quality, the passion, the heritage and the craft of what Starbucks can do.”

The idea behind this unique flavor combination came from outgoing CEO Howard Schultz, who was inspired by the Mediterranean tradition of consuming a spoonful of olive oil each day. During his trip to Italy last summer, Schultz was intrigued by this practice and decided to experiment with adding olive oil to his coffee. After trying it out himself, Schultz believed that this combination could work on a larger scale, and hence the idea for the Oleato line was born.

Starbucks has always been at the forefront of customization and innovation, and the Oleato line is a perfect example of this. By introducing this unique flavor combination, the company is catering to the diverse tastes of its customers while also staying true to its commitment to offering high-quality coffee beverages.

The introduction of the Oleato line in Italy and its subsequent rollout to other regions around the world is sure to create a buzz in the coffee industry, and Starbucks is likely to continue its trend of pushing the boundaries of traditional coffee offerings in the future.
