Kulfi Idli, the Bizarre combo is the latest irritation of the Internet

Published:

A new and unique food combination involving idli, a popular South Indian breakfast dish, has sparked divided opinions among social media users.

The unique dish combines the traditional South Indian breakfast staple with the flavours of the popular Indian dessert, Kulfi. The dish features idlis that have been carved into the shape of Kulfi and are even served on sticks, just like ice cream.

@VisitUdupi shared a picture of the dish on social media, where it quickly went viral with over 55.8K views and 857 likes. Reactions from idli lovers were mixed, with some feeling that it detracts from the originality of the classic dish, while others found it innovative and expressed an interest in trying it.

One social media user commented, “Come on guys, let’s not ruin the real idli tradition, idli is perfect the way it is, it doesn’t need different shapes from what it already is.”

Another user wrote, “Looking good and new innovation and all that is good. But, the age-old tradition of having idli, as it is, and enjoying with your hands, that experience is divine.”

Not everyone is a fan of this food combination, with some users expressing their dislike for experimenting with traditional dishes like idli. One user commented, “No, just No! I don’t like experiments with Idli.”

This is not the first time that a unique and unconventional food combination has taken social media by storm. In recent times, we have seen a rise in the popularity of other unusual food pairings, such as ‘dairy milk pakoras’. Regardless of personal opinions, the trend of experimenting with food shows no signs of slowing down.
