Feeding India partners Maharashtra Govt & UdyogYantra to Pilot Meal Nutrition program at a Tribal School

Zomato, the popular online food ordering and delivery platform, has partnered with the Government of Maharashtra and UdyogYantra, a technology startup, to pilot a project aimed at ensuring the nutritional quality and compliance of meals served to children at Todsa, a Government Ashram School for tribal children in Maharashtra.

The pilot project involves the use of an AI-enabled device that is specifically designed to monitor the nutritional value of the meals provided to the children, as well as ensure compliance with the prescribed nutritional standards. This device is expected to help the school administration in maintaining a healthy and balanced diet for the children, thus contributing to their overall well-being.

Shubham Gupta, IAS, said, “The District Administration is initiating a new collaborative effort in nutrition management, using the latest technological innovation in Artificial Intelligence. Feeding India by Zomato and UdyogYantra have been instrumental in this novel pilot project by pledging their support to work in the aspirational district of Gadchiroli. We express our utmost gratitude to them for their contribution and good work. Such initiatives have the potential to be game changers in this rapidly transforming social sector of the Country.”

Vishal Kumar, CEO and president of Feeding India, added, “The result of this pilot has been very encouraging and both the district administration as well as children have echoed a stark improvement in the quantity and quality of daily meals being serviced. This device has aided in regular monitoring of BMI of children and proactive identification of acute malnutrition among children requiring special attention. Feeding India, upon the request of the District Administration has made available a malt-based nutritious supplement to quickly improve the nutrition level of these children. Together, we are making a real difference in the lives of the most vulnerable among us, and it’s a true honor to be a part of this meaningful work.”

Ankur Jain, Founder & CEO of UdyogYantra, said, “Management guru Peter Drucker once said, [only] what gets measured, gets managed. Quality-Quantity & Contents of Food served in schools directly control the nutrition our children need to grow into healthy growth pillars of the country. It is heartening to see the disruptive approach from Zomato Feeding India and dynamic leadership of District Administration, to introduce Deep Tech from UdyogYantra to measure and monitor in real-time Nutrition Delivery and Child Impact Traceability is one the remotest corners of the country. We believe Tech and a Belief in Tech can accelerate a move towards a healthy India,”

Todsa is located in the remote village of Etapalli in the Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra, which is known for its predominantly indigenous population. The implementation of this pilot project in such a region is particularly significant as it aims to provide improved access to nutritious meals to children who may have limited access to a balanced diet otherwise.

The successful implementation of this pilot project could lead to the adoption of similar technologies and initiatives in other regions of the state and the country. The project has been carried out with the support and guidance of Shubham Gupta, IAS, who has played a crucial role in ensuring the success of the initiative.
