Modak is a traditional Indian sweet that is often prepared during the festive season of Ganesh Chaturthi as it is considered to be the favorite of Lord Ganesha who is the god of wisdom and new beginnings in Hindu mythology. It is said that offering modak to Lord Ganesha during the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi brings good luck, prosperity, and happiness. This is why the preparation and consumption of fried modak is an important part of the festival, which is celebrated with great enthusiasm across India.
While fried modak is not considered a health food, it does contain some nutritional value. Coconut, which is a key ingredient in the filling, is rich in fiber, vitamins, and minerals, and can help boost immunity, aid digestion, and support heart health. Jaggery, which is a traditional sweetener made from sugarcane juice, is a healthier alternative to refined sugar as it contains some vital minerals like iron, potassium, and calcium.
However, one of the key benefits of frying the modak is that it is relatively easier to make and quick also, rather than the conventional steaming method. So, if your in-laws just decided to show up at the last moment and you don’t know what to serve them? We got you back in you have the following:
