It may be pleasing when the cold weather strikes, but it can give us nightmares about our babies. Yeah, that’s right! During the colder months, babies require a lot of energy. They are also prone to a variety of health issues and allergies. So, giving healthy, warming foods to our young ones makes sense. Most winter foods are designed to keep your body warm while also aiding in treating colds and coughs.
Believe it or not, we all had nostalgic moments during the winter. With the onset of winter, quilts or your so-called Razais are out, and you can smell Vicks vaporub everywhere in your home. Our mother’s mighty weapon, that white colour steamer, comes out of the cupboard. And all those ladoos that our beloved Dadi used to make for us, and the golden rule was, daily, one ladoo, ‘Jyada ni Khana, Garmi Ho Jayegi’! Keeping in mind all those beautiful memories, today we have brought a special winter ladoo, ‘Kesar Badam Ladoo’, for kids to keep them warm this season.
Why Almonds (Badam)?
Almonds are well-known for their health benefits. They aid in the mental development of children and improve memory. They have a zero glycemic load, which helps to strengthen the digestive system. These also help with brain development and strengthen bones and teeth.
Almonds keep the body warm and the immune system strong in the winter. You may wonder how! These are high in healthy fats (monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats), proteins, and fibre. Thermogenesis- or heat production- occurs when the body breaks down these foods for energy.
An age-old home remedy for cold and cough symptoms is to apply a mixture of saffron and lukewarm milk to your forehead. Saffron is said to relieve cold symptoms when applied topically. It is more beneficial when consumed, as it has carotenoids, which help fight against diseases and provide immunity. Saffron’s anti-inflammatory properties help in pre and post-infection management strategies.
So let’s get started with Kesar Almond Ladoo!
These easy, quick, and delicious badam ladoos require very little cooking and are ready in under 15 minutes. Badam Ladoo (Almond Ladoo) is a delicious Indian sweet dish perfect for your kids to keep them warm. This almond ladoo with Saffron and cardamom has an amazingly nutty consistency from roasted almond flour and an aromatic flavour from the ghee.
This badam ladoo recipe is easy to bind, tastes fantastic, has a perfectly soft, nutty, and melt-in-your-mouth texture, and requires no sugar syrup, soaking, or almond peeling. This recipe only gets as simple as this.
How to make Kesar Badam Ladoo?
Step 1: Soak the saffron strands in hot milk. Blend almonds until powdered in a high-powered blender.
Step 2: In a pan, dry roast almond powder for 3-4 minutes on medium-low heat. Place them on a plate.
Step 3: Melt ghee in the same pan. Once melted, add the saffron-infused milk and bring to a boil for 1 minute.
Step 4: Stir in the roasted almond powder until thoroughly combined.
Step 5: Remove from the heat and stir in the sugar, cardamom, rose water, and chopped nuts.
Step 6: Shape a small portion of the ladoo mixture into a smooth ball ladoo. Make all of the ladoos and have fun!
