Odisha’s Dragon Fruit reaches global markets: First 4-quintal batch shipped to Dubai

The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) and the Directorate of Horticulture, with technical support from Palladium under the Promotion and Stabilization of Farmer Producer Organizations (PSFPO) project, have facilitated the first-ever export of dragon fruits from Patnagarh, Balangir district in Odisha to Dubai. On 4th September 2024, approximately 4 quintals of premium, organically grown dragon fruit were shipped to Dubai via Bhubaneswar International Airport.

The consignment was flagged off at the airport by Honourable Deputy Chief Minister Shri K. V. Singh Deo, Principal Secretary Dr. Arabinda K. Padhee, IAS, Director of Horticulture Mr. Nikhil Pavan Kalyan, IAS, Regional Director of APEDA Mr. Sitakanta Mandal, Associate Director of Palladium Mr. Biswajit Behera, along with the PSFPO team, and representatives from the Airport Authority of India, World Trade Centre, and VeloExim.

Foodtech giant Swiggy has introduced an ‘incognito mode’ feature, allowing users to place orders privately on its food delivery and quick commerce platforms.

Former junior staff at Swiggy embezzled INR 33 Cr; investigation underway

IPO-bound foodtech giant Swiggy disclosed in its annual report for FY 2023-24 that a former junior employee embezzled INR 33 crore over an extended period.

According to Moneycontrol, the company has launched an investigation with an external team and filed a legal complaint against the individual.

“The Group identified embezzlement of INR 326.76 million in one of its subsidiaries by a former junior employee over previous periods,” the company stated in the report.
