Ban on non-vegetarian cuisine at DU’s Hansraj College sparks controversy; students react

0

After reopening in February 2022 following the covid pandemic, Hansraj College made the decision to stop providing non-vegetarian cuisine in its canteen and dormitories. This decision has received harsh criticism from a number of sources.

Despite strong opposition on Wednesday, Rama Sharma, the principal of Hansraj Institution, insisted that Hansraj College, a DU affiliated college, adheres to the Arya Samaj doctrine and refused to revoke the decision banning non-vegetarian food in the dormitory and restaurant. Speaking to PTI, Sharma added that 90% of the students are vegetarians and that they had previously demonstrated against non-vegetarian food being supplied in the dorms.

Sharma emphasized that “a notification was provided and the hostel prospectus indicated that no non-vegetarian food will be served at the hostel” in response to students’ claims that no notice had been given in this case. “The warning about non-vegetarian food won’t be removed. It is a college affiliated with the Arya Samaj. We won’t provide non-vegetarian meals since it goes against our principles. We often hold “havan.” We adhere to our guidelines. The brochure for the hostel specifies that only vegetarian food would be provided, “she informed PTI.

“We don’t request that St. Stephen’s (college) lead a “havan.” We respect the policies of Khalsa College. So why are we being interrogated?”Sharma stated. According to the principal, non-vegetarian food was never offered in the hostel canteen and it has been discontinued in the hostel after informing students.

Alok Sharma, a third-year student who lives in the hostel, had earlier claimed that the institution unexpectedly ceased providing non-vegetarian meals. “We weren’t made aware of any such order. No order, in my opinion, was issued. This is wrong. We require appropriate nutrition because we are living apart from our family . This is a step in the wrong direction. Our choice of food should be unrestricted.”

The “discontinuation” of non-vegetarian food has been criticized by the Students’ Federation of India (SFI) as an effort to “saffronise the campus” and has called for a protest at Hansraj College on 20th January.

According to the SFI, the Hansraj management has also allegedly taken eggs from students who brought them to the hostel. Also, in contrast to the college principal’s assertion that 90% of students were vegetarians, the SFI stated that a poll performed within the Hansraj hostel revealed that over 75% of students were non-vegetarians.

In Andhra Pradesh, a family feeds their son-in-law 379 food items; Netizens react

0

In preparation for their future son-in-law during last year’s Makar Sankranti celebration, a family from Narsapuram in the disorganized West Godavari area fed him 365 different dishes. During festivals, Indian households are known for spoiling or treating their son-in-law.

Even though they have been carrying out the same custom for years, Andhra households have only recently begun to treat their son-in-law by providing a lavish feast at the Sankranti (Pedda Panduga) holiday. In both Telugu states, food prepared in Godavari districts is regarded as the best.

Buddha Muralidhar, a son-in-law from Anakapalli, a town close to Visakhapatnam, wanted to marry into a Godavari district household. The Architect never imagined he would marry one of these regions’ daughters.

Unexpectedly, he received a match from Eluru Town, and on April 16 of last year’s destination wedding at Araku, he married Koruballi Kusuma. The parents of MBA graduate Kusuma started planning a lavish feast for their son-in-law last week and have been working on it all week. The number of items they prepared—379—was the largest in prior years.

“We intended to provide him with a wide range of food items. My parents created a menu for the previous ten days”, said the daughter and bride-to-be. Businessman Bhima Rao’s son-in-law expressed amazement at the news. “I tried everything.” It has a distinctive feeling.

According to Muralidhar, the culture of the Konaseema and Godavari districts is significantly dissimilar from that in the Vizag region.

The 28-year-old Muralidhar added that none of the 22 cousins in his extended family had married a woman from the Godavari area. He was the first to have the opportunity and honor of having such in-laws.

Beckham follows a strict diet plan that includes a balance of lean proteins, complex carbohydrates, and healthy fats. Good Old Green Leafy vegetables

Another important aspect of Beckham’s diet is the inclusion of a wide variety of fruits and vegetables. These foods are rich in vitamins and minerals that are essential for good health. Want to look younger? These eye hydrating techniques can help!

0

Hydrating your eyes is a simple yet effective technique that can help you look younger by 10 years. Yes, you read that right. The skin around the eyes is delicate and sensitive, and it is often the first area to show signs of ageing. Fine lines, wrinkles, and puffiness can all make you look older than you feel. But by properly hydrating the skin around your eyes, you can reduce these signs of ageing and restore a youthful appearance.

One of the best ways to hydrate the skin around your eyes is to use an eye cream or gel that contains hyaluronic acid. This is why hyaluronic acid works:

  • Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance that helps to retain moisture in the skin.
  • It can hold up to 1000 times its weight in water, making it an excellent ingredient for hydrating the delicate skin around the eyes.
  •  Look for an eye cream or gel that contains at least 0.5% hyaluronic acid to see the best results.

Another way to hydrate your eyes is to use a cold compress.

  • A cold compress can help to reduce puffiness and inflammation around the eyes.
  •  To make a cold compress, simply place a cold, damp cloth over your closed eyes for a few minutes.
  •  You can also use chilled cucumber slices or tea bags that have been cooled in the refrigerator.
  • The cold temperature constricts blood vessels, reducing inflammation and puffiness.

In addition to using an eye cream or cold compress, you can also hydrate your eyes by drinking plenty of water.

  •  Dehydration can cause puffiness and dark circles around the eyes.
  •  By drinking at least eight glasses of water a day, you can help to keep your skin hydrated and reduce the appearance of puffiness and dark circles.

Sleep should be your priority

It’s important to also get enough sleep, as lack of sleep can cause puffiness and dark circles around the eyes

  •  Aim for 7-8 hours of sleep per night to help keep your eyes looking youthful and refreshed.

Another way to hydrate your eyes is by using facial massage.

  •  Gently massaging the skin around your eyes can help to increase blood flow and stimulate collagen production.
  • This can help to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
  •  To massage your eyes, gently tap the skin around your eyes with your fingertips.
  •  You can also use a small amount of eye cream or oil to help lubricate the skin.

How traditional skin care methods can help with younger skin:

Indian women have valued beauty as a major component of their identity for many years. The majority of human skin problems, according to Ayurveda, can be resolved with substances and herbs that are naturally occurring in our ecosystem.

  • Numerous natural elements that could do wonders for your skin can be found in the huge Himalayas, luxuriant Indian woods, and the clear Indian waters.
  • Scrubs, face washes, packs, and oils that are only infused with traditional substances like Ashwagandha and Himalayan salt are increasingly replacing chemical-laden cosmetics due to rising beauty consciousness.

In conclusion, hydrating your eyes is a simple yet effective technique that can help you look younger by 10 years. By using an eye cream or gel that contains hyaluronic acid, using a cold compress, drinking plenty of water, getting enough sleep and using facial massage, you can reduce the signs of ageing and restore a youthful appearance. Remember to be gentle when working around the delicate eye area, and if you have any concerns or questions, be sure to consult a skincare professional.

After being displeased by China, Pakistan seeks assistance from India amid its food and economic crisis

0

To prevent the nation from becoming bankrupt due to depleting foreign exchange reserves, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir asked the UAE and Saudi Arabia for USD 4 billion in financial assistance. A key government source claimed that the UAE had made it clear to Pakistan that it needed to examine its policies and make plans for better neighbourly relations (India).

According to recent reports, Sharif has pressed for “honest negotiations” with Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding the Kashmir issue since “three wars with India have created more suffering, poverty, and unemployment.” An English newspaper in Pakistan remarked that Sharif is pleading with the world for financial assistance. Let’s examine the likely causes for Pakistan’s request for India’s assistance:

Pakistan’s economy is stagnated and fighting to stay afloat. Pakistan’s central bank has practically no foreign reserves, with just two and a third weeks’ worth of import payments left. From USD 16.6 billion in January 2022, it now has foreign exchange reserves of only USD 5.6 billion. Also, from 2.8% of GDP to 2.2% for 2022–2023, Pakistan’s defence spending was reduced. Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and other terrorists have been at war with the nation since 2002.

Pakistan’s agricultural land washed away in the 2022 flash floods, which created scarcity of wheat, vegetables, and rice and caused damages of roughly USD 40 billion. With little dollar reserves, it cannot even purchase imports. Pakistan is also struggling with a severe trade imbalance of USD 48.66 billion, a 57% increase as a result of higher-than-expected imports, and is unable to reach its export objectives. Despite the Sharif government’s prohibition on more than 800 non-essential luxury products, the trade gap has reached dangerous levels.

The government of Pakistan has reportedly developed a plan to resume commerce with India as it appears to be the only “viable and straightforward alternative” to import necessities like vegetables, wheat, rice, and medications following the ferocity of the recent flash floods.

According to political and economic analysts, only India can save Pakistan because of its easy access to trade routes like Wagah-Attari and Khokhrapar-Munabao Borders. This entails a new chapter in the India vs Pakistan relationship while all eyes are on India because of its rich resources and strong international alliances.
