diet for working professionals

Maintaining a healthy diet can be a significant challenge for busy professionals who lead fast-paced lives and are constantly on the go. The demanding work schedules, back-to-back meetings, and frequent travel can make it difficult to find the time to prepare nutritious meals and make smart food choices. As a result, many professionals resort to consuming fast food and unhealthy snacks, leading to a range of health problems and weight challenges.

In order to prioritize their health and well-being, it is crucial for busy professionals to understand the potential impact of their career on their diet and overall health. By implementing the right diet plan and adopting simple strategies, it is possible to maintain a healthy lifestyle and achieve optimal energy levels even with a hectic schedule.

This article explores the science behind maintaining a healthy diet for busy professionals. It delves into the importance of macronutrients, the relationship between diet and weight loss, effective diet options, tracking progress, managing hunger and cravings, and common mistakes to avoid. By following the strategies outlined in this article, busy professionals can strike a balance between their professional commitments and their health, leading to improved well-being and long-term success.

Understanding Macronutrients and their Role in a Healthy Diet

Macronutrients, which include protein, carbohydrates, and fat, play a vital role in maintaining a healthy diet. The ideal ratio of these macronutrients varies depending on an individual’s health goals and lifestyle. Generally, it is recommended to consume approximately 20%–30% fat, 30% protein, and 40%–50% carbohydrates in one’s diet.

However, for busy professionals, adhering to a healthy diet can be challenging given their demanding schedules. To make healthy eating more accessible, it is essential to plan meals in advance, avoid skipping breakfast, pack nutritious lunches, stay hydrated with water, choose healthy snacks, practice mindful eating habits, and make informed food choices when dining out.

Additionally, various effective diets cater to different preferences. The Mediterranean diet, known for its health benefits, emphasizes whole, unprocessed foods and provides a balanced distribution of macronutrients with around 50% carbohydrates, 30% fat, and 20% protein. On the other hand, a low-carb diet encourages a ratio of approximately 10–20% carbohydrates, 50–60% fat, and 20–30% protein, which triggers a state of ketosis, where the body burns fat for energy. Meanwhile, a plant-based diet focuses on a ratio of about 50–60% carbohydrates, 15–20% protein, and 20–25% fat, ensuring adequate energy and nutrient intake.

The Role of Diet in Weight Loss

Weight loss is achieved by creating a calorie deficit, where the number of calories burned exceeds the number of calories consumed. Diet and exercise are the primary factors in achieving weight loss. For busy professionals, finding a sustainable and effective diet plan is essential for long-term success.

Several diets have proven to be effective for weight loss. The Mediterranean diet, with its emphasis on whole, unprocessed foods high in fiber and low in calories, is particularly successful. It also incorporates healthy fats, such as olive oil, which promote satiety.

Another popular option for weight loss is the low-carb diet, which reduces insulin levels and promotes fat burning. By minimizing carbohydrate intake, the body enters a state of ketosis, where it utilizes stored fat as its primary source of energy.

Intermittent fasting, which involves alternating between fasting and eating windows, is also an effective weight loss strategy. By reducing calorie intake and promoting fat burning, intermittent fasting aids in achieving weight loss goals.

Plant-based diets, which prioritize whole, unprocessed foods and minimize or exclude animal products, can also facilitate weight loss. These diets are generally low in calories and unhealthy fats, making them beneficial for individuals seeking to shed excess weight.

Implementing the Best Diet for Busy Professionals

Before starting any diet plan, it is essential for busy professionals to consult with their doctor or a registered dietitian to ensure that the chosen diet is safe and suitable for their specific requirements. Once cleared, the following steps can guide professionals toward a successful implementation of their chosen diet:

  • Research and Meal Planning: It is important to research the selected diet thoroughly and create a meal plan that includes a balance of macronutrients and a variety of foods. Planning meals in advance helps save time and ensures that healthy options are readily available.
  • Stocking Up on Healthy Foods: Keeping a stock of healthy foods and snacks is crucial for busy professionals who are frequently on the go. By having nutritious options on hand, professionals can avoid succumbing to unhealthy fast food choices when hunger strikes.
  • Progress Tracking: To stay accountable and monitor progress, tracking food intake using a food diary or a mobile app can be highly beneficial. This allows individuals to ensure they are meeting their health goals and make any necessary adjustments along the way.
  • Common Mistakes to Avoid: While following a diet plan, there are common pitfalls that busy professionals should be aware of to maximize the benefits:
  • Relying on processed foods marketed as “healthy”: Many processed foods labeled as healthy can be high in calories, unhealthy fats, and sugar. It is important to avoid them as much as possible and opt for whole, unprocessed alternatives.
  • Neglecting macronutrient intake: It is crucial to ensure an adequate intake of protein, carbohydrates, and healthy fats to support energy needs and overall health.
  • Lack of portion control: Practicing mindful eating and being aware of portion sizes is key to preventing overeating, even with healthy foods.
  • Ignoring sleep and stress management: A lack of sleep and high stress levels can disrupt eating habits, leading to poor food choices and overeating. Prioritizing self-care, sleep, and stress management is essential for overall well-being and maintaining a healthy diet.

Tracking Progress in Weight Loss

Tracking weight loss progress is essential for busy professionals to stay motivated and make necessary adjustments. Several strategies can simplify the tracking process:

  • Utilizing a Journal or Mobile App: Maintaining a journal or using one of the many available mobile apps can help track food intake, exercise, and overall progress. This enables professionals to monitor their habits and make informed decisions.
  • Incorporating Passive Weight Loss Strategies: Implementing small changes like keeping healthy snacks on hand, choosing the right carbohydrates, and prepping meals ahead of time can contribute to weight loss success.
  • Regularly Monitoring Weight: Consistently weighing oneself using a scale or other tracking tools ensures that progress is being made. However, it is important to note that weight is not the only indicator of progress, as factors such as muscle gain can impact overall health and appearance.
  • Breaking Down Exercise Routine: Busy professionals often struggle to find time for exercise. By breaking down workouts into manageable chunks and scheduling them into their day, professionals can ensure they do not skip physical activity.

Tips to Manage Hunger and Cravings

Managing hunger and cravings is a significant challenge for individuals following any diet, especially for busy professionals seeking quick fixes. The following tips can help professionals overcome these obstacles:

  • Focus on Nutrient-Dense Foods: Opt for foods that are rich in nutrients, protein, and fiber to promote feelings of fullness and satisfaction. Lean meats, legumes, vegetables, and whole grains are excellent choices that offer essential vitamins, minerals, and fiber.
  • Stay Hydrated: Drinking an ample amount of water throughout the day is crucial in managing hunger and reducing cravings. Thirst can sometimes be mistaken for hunger, so staying hydrated can help professionals differentiate between the two.
  • Listen to Hunger Cues: Pay attention to the body’s hunger signals. If hunger strikes, choose a healthy snack or meal to satisfy it. However, if there is no hunger, avoid unnecessary snacking.

Maintaining a healthy diet as a busy professional may seem challenging, but with proper planning and adherence to a well-balanced diet, it is possible to achieve and sustain good health. By implementing strategies such as meal planning, stocking up on healthy foods, tracking progress, and managing hunger and cravings, busy professionals can navigate their hectic schedules while prioritizing their well-being. Consistency and small changes over time can lead to significant improvements in health and overall quality of life. Begin incorporating these habits into daily routines today and experience the benefits of a healthy diet, even amidst a busy lifestyle.

Find out why A2 milk is the ultimate game-changer and explore the must-try A2 cow milk brands in india!

0
A2 milk

Milk has been a vital part of the Indian diet for centuries, providing essential nutrients and contributing to overall health. However, not all milk is created equal. A recent development in the dairy industry has brought attention to A2 milk, which is believed to be a game-changer due to its potential health benefits. In this article, we will delve into the world of A2 milk, explore its advantages over conventional milk, and highlight some of the must-try A2 cow milk brands in India.

Understanding A1 and A2 Milk

To understand the significance of A2 milk, we need to differentiate it from A1 milk. Both A1 and A2 are variants of the beta-casein protein found in cow’s milk. The primary difference lies in a specific amino acid at position 67 of the protein chain. A2 milk contains only the A2 beta-casein protein, while A1 milk contains both A1 and A2 proteins.

A1 milk originated from certain European breeds of cows, while A2 milk is associated with older breeds like the Indian Desi cows, Guernsey, and Jersey cows. The key differentiator between A1 and A2 milk is the way the proteins are broken down during digestion.

Health Benefits of A2 Milk

Research suggests that A2 milk may offer several health benefits compared to A1 milk. Let’s explore some of these advantages:

  • Easier Digestion: A2 milk is believed to be easier to digest than A1 milk due to the different protein structure. People who experience discomfort or digestive issues after consuming regular milk may find relief by switching to A2 milk.
  • Reduced Inflammation: Some studies have shown that A2 milk may have anti-inflammatory properties. Inflammation is linked to various health conditions, and consuming A2 milk may help reduce inflammation levels in the body.
  • Enhanced Nutrient Absorption: A2 milk contains essential nutrients such as calcium, vitamins, and minerals. The improved digestion and nutrient absorption associated with A2 milk may ensure better utilization of these vital elements.
  • Boosted Immunity: The presence of bioactive peptides in A2 milk has been suggested to support immune function. A strong immune system is crucial for overall health and can help in fighting off diseases and infections.
  • Potential for Allergy Reduction: A2 milk may be a suitable alternative for individuals with lactose intolerance or milk protein allergies. While lactose intolerance is primarily related to the milk sugar (lactose), some people may also be sensitive to the A1 beta-casein protein found in regular milk.

  • Source of Milk: Ensure that the brand sources milk from indigenous cow breeds known for producing A2 milk. Cows like the Indian Desi cows, Guernsey, and Jersey cows are generally associated with A2 milk production.
  • Quality and Purity: Look for brands that prioritize quality and purity. Check if the milk goes through rigorous testing and quality control procedures to ensure it is free from contaminants.
  • Packaging and Shelf Life: Consider the packaging and shelf life of the milk. Opt for brands that use appropriate packaging materials to maintain the freshness and nutritional value of the milk.
  • Availability and Price: Check the availability of the brand in your area and compare prices. While quality is crucial, it’s also essential to find a brand that fits your budget and is easily accessible.
  • Certification and Testing: Look for brands that have proper certifications and testing procedures in place. This ensures that the milk meets the required standards and undergoes regular quality checks.

A2 milk has gained recognition as a potential game-changer in the dairy industry. Its unique protein structure and potential health benefits have attracted consumers who are looking for a healthier alternative to regular milk.

From creamy delights to tangy treats, Rajasthan’s desserts are a culinary delight that shouldn’t be missed. In this article, we will explore five irresistible desserts from Rajasthan that will leave you craving for more.

  1. Malai Roti, Jodhpur

Malai Roti is an accidental invention that took place around 50 years ago in Jodhpur. This unique dessert is the brainchild of Jeevan Ram Bhati, a vegetable vendor. Malai Roti, which translates to “creamy flatbread,” is unlike any other sweet you’ve tasted before. It is made entirely out of milk, with thick creamy layers laid in a puddle of sugar syrup and topped with a garnish of dry fruits.

The texture of Malai Roti is neither chewy nor does it melt in the mouth. It falls somewhere in between, offering a smooth and juicy sensation. This delightful treat can only be found at Vijay Restaurant, a renowned establishment that has been serving Malai Roti for over three decades. The exact ingredients and process of making this sweet are a closely guarded secret known only to the owner, Vijay Bhati.

  • Address: Vijay Restaurant, 1st Floor, Katla Bazar, Main Chowk, Old City, Jodhpur.
  1. Diljani, Udaipur

Diljani is a famous dessert in Udaipur and is considered a tangier version of boondi. A spoonful of Diljani, which translates to “sweetheart,” is the perfect way to end a meal during winters in Udaipur. Jagdish Misthan Bhandar is the go-to place to indulge in this seasonal delight.

Diljani is made using tiny droplets of gram flour batter, similar to boondi, but with a slight difference. The boondi grains of Diljani are much smaller in size. The fried balls of gram flour batter are immersed in sugar syrup and then in a mixture of orange juice and almonds, giving it a unique tangy flavor. It is recommended to consume Diljani fresh, as the orange juice, if kept longer and unrefrigerated, can turn bitter.

  • Address: Jagdish Misthan Bhandar, 16 Sarang Marg Surajpole, Jawahar Nagar, Brahmpuri, Udaipur.
  1. Ghotua, Jaisalmer

Ghotua is a traditional sweet originating from Jaisalmer and is an evolved form of boondi. To prepare Ghotua, boondi is crushed with a pestle, and the resulting paste is seasoned with cardamom powder and saffron, then shaped into balls. Unlike Diljani, which has a short shelf life of a few hours, Ghotua can stay fresh for up to a month.

The best place to savor Ghotua in Jaisalmer is at Dhanraj Ranmal Bhatia, a renowned house of traditional sweets located near Jaisalmer Fort. The flavors of Ghotua will transport you back in time and provide a glimpse into the culinary heritage of Rajasthan.

  • Address: Dhanraj Ranmal Bhatia, Amar Sagar Pol, Jaisalmer.
  1. Mawa Kachori, Jodhpur

Mawa Kachori is a sweet rendition of the famous street food, kachori. This mouthwatering dessert is stuffed with a fragrant mixture of mawa (evaporated milk solids) and dry fruits. Mawa Kachori was invented by the late Rawatmal Ji Deora of Rawat Mishthan Bhandar in Jodhpur, and its fame has reached such heights that even former Indian Prime Ministers, Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi, paid a visit to taste this delicacy.

The large brown dumplings of Mawa Kachori can be broken and dipped into sugar syrup before taking a bite, releasing a burst of flavors. Janta Sweet Home in Jodhpur is the go-to place for this delightful dessert, which has been serving Mawa Kachori since 1980.

  • Address: 3, Nai Sarak, opposite Priya Hotel, Chauraha, Jodhpur.
  1. Paneer Ghewar, Jaipur

Ghewar, known for its unique shape and texture, is a popular dessert all over Rajasthan. During the festival of Teej, married daughters are often gifted Ghewar as a symbol of love and blessings. Paneer Ghewar, a modified version of Ghewar, was created after numerous experiments with milk and refined flour in 1961.

Paneer Ghewar incorporates thick curdled milk or chhena along with chickpea flour. It is served with hot rabri (sweetened condensed milk) or dipped in sugar syrup, adding an extra dimension to the already delightful dessert. For the best Paneer Ghewar experience, head to Laxmi Misthan Bhandar in Jaipur, where you can also try their Mawa Ghewar and Malai Ghewar.

  • Address: No. 98, 99, Johari Bazar Rd, Bapu Bazar, Biseswarji, Jaipur.

Rajasthan’s desserts are a testament to the state’s rich culinary heritage and offer a unique blend of flavors and textures. From the creamy layers of Malai Roti in Jodhpur to the tangy delight of Diljani in Udaipur, each dessert has its own story and distinctive taste. Ghotua from Jaisalmer, Mawa Kachori from Jodhpur, and Paneer Ghewar from Jaipur further enrich the culinary landscape of Rajasthan.

In this article, we will explore a range of delicious foods that can help you achieve healthy, germ-free teeth and a captivating smile.

Foods Rich in Calcium for Strong Teeth

Calcium is vital for maintaining strong teeth and bones. Consuming foods rich in calcium helps replenish the mineral content in our teeth and prevents tooth decay. Here are three excellent sources of calcium:

  • Dairy Products: Milk, cheese, and yogurt are not only delicious but also packed with calcium. They also contain casein, a protein that strengthens tooth enamel and reduces the risk of cavities.
  • Leafy Greens: Leafy greens like spinach, kale, and broccoli are not only nutritional powerhouses but also provide calcium. They also contain essential vitamins and minerals that contribute to overall oral health.
  • Nuts and Seeds: Almonds, sesame seeds, and chia seeds are excellent sources of calcium. Additionally, they are rich in healthy fats and other essential nutrients that benefit dental health.

Vitamin C for Healthy Gums

Maintaining healthy gums is crucial for overall oral health. Vitamin C plays a vital role in collagen synthesis, which helps keep gums strong and resilient. Including foods rich in vitamin C in your diet can promote healthy gums and prevent gum diseases. Here are some excellent sources of vitamin C:

  • Citrus Fruits: Oranges, lemons, and grapefruits are packed with vitamin C. They also stimulate saliva production, which helps wash away food particles and bacteria.
  • Bell Peppers: Bell peppers, particularly red and yellow ones, are not only colorful but also high in vitamin C. They provide a refreshing crunch and can be a great addition to salads or stir-fries.
  • Strawberries: These juicy berries are not only a delightful treat but also rich in vitamin C. They also contain malic acid, which acts as a natural teeth whitener by removing surface stains.

Crunchy Fruits and Vegetables for Natural Teeth Cleaning

Certain fruits and vegetables possess a natural teeth-cleaning effect due to their crunchy texture. Chewing these foods stimulates saliva production, which helps neutralize harmful acids and cleanses the mouth. Here are some examples:

  • Apples: Apples are nature’s toothbrushes. Their fibrous texture helps scrub away plaque and food particles, while their high water content helps hydrate the mouth.
  • Carrots: Carrots are crunchy and rich in fiber. Chewing on carrots stimulates the gums and helps remove plaque buildup.
  • Celery: Similar to carrots, celery is fibrous and requires thorough chewing. It helps scrape away plaque from the teeth and freshens breath.

Green Tea for Oral Health

Green tea is not only a popular beverage but also beneficial for oral health. It contains polyphenols, which have antimicrobial properties that can inhibit the growth of bacteria responsible for gum diseases and cavities. Additionally, green tea can reduce bad breath and help prevent the formation of plaque. Sipping on a cup of green tea can be a refreshing and tooth-friendly habit.

Probiotic Foods for a Balanced Oral Microbiome

Maintaining a balanced oral microbiome is crucial for oral health. Probiotic foods contain beneficial bacteria that help combat harmful bacteria in the mouth, promoting a healthy balance. Here are three probiotic-rich foods:

  • Yogurt: Yogurt contains live bacteria cultures like Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium, which can benefit oral health. It can help reduce bad breath, gum inflammation, and plaque buildup.
  • Kefir: Kefir is a fermented milk drink that is rich in probiotics. It can help fight oral infections, strengthen teeth, and promote healthy gums.
  • Sauerkraut: Fermented foods like sauerkraut are packed with probiotics. Including sauerkraut in your diet can help maintain a healthy oral microbiome and reduce the risk of dental problems.

The Benefits of Chewing Sugarless Gum

Chewing sugarless gum after meals can be beneficial for oral health. It stimulates saliva production, which helps wash away food particles, neutralize acids, and promote remineralization of tooth enamel. Additionally, chewing gum can freshen breath and reduce dry mouth symptoms. Look for gum sweetened with xylitol, a natural sugar substitute that has been shown to have oral health benefits.

Achieving and maintaining a healthy, germ-free mouth is not just about brushing and flossing; it also requires a tooth-friendly diet. By incorporating the foods mentioned in this article, you can provide your teeth and gums with essential nutrients, strengthen enamel, promote healthy gums, and ward off dental problems. Patanjali Foods made an announcement on Wednesday that its promoters are planning to sell shares to institutional investors in June. The purpose of this share sale is to meet the minimum public shareholding norms, which mandate a 25% stake. As part of this plan, the promoters of Patanjali Foods intend to dilute their ownership by 6%.

Patanjali Foods Ltd (PFL), formerly known as Ruchi Soya Industries, underwent an acquisition in September 2019. The acquisition was carried out by the Patanjali Group led by Baba Ramdev through a corporate insolvency resolution process.

In an interview with PTI, Ramdev said, “We are planning to meet the minimum shareholding norms as prescribed by the market regulator SEBI.”

Furthermore, he stated that the company aims to reduce its stake by approximately 6% in June through a combination of Qualified Institutions Placement (QIP) and Offer for Sale (OFS).

“We have already started roadshow from Wednesday and there is a great interest from global investors,” Ramdev said.

Currently, the public shareholding in PFL stands at 19.18%, and it is required to be raised to a minimum of 25%.

According to Rule 19A(5) of the Securities Contracts (Regulation) Rules, 1957, it is mandatory for a listed entity to maintain a minimum public shareholding (MPS) of 25%.

PFL currently holds a market capitalization of approximately INR 38,000 crore. On Wednesday, its shares on the BSE closed at INR 1,047.85 per scrip, reflecting a 2.56% increase compared to the previous closing price.

When asked about the amount which PFL will raise through dilution of stake, its CEO Sanjeev Asthana said, “It will depend on the market condition and interest of investors.”

On the preferred route for selling shares, he said, “Either it will by QIP or a combination of QIP and OFS.”

In March, the shares of the promoters of PFL, a prominent edible oil player and a part of the Ramdev-led Patanjali Group, were frozen by the NSE and BSE stock exchanges.

At that time, PFL had notified that the prominent stock exchanges BSE and NSE had frozen the shares of 21 promoter entities, which included Patanjali Ayurved and Acharya Balkrishna. Acharya Balkrishna serves as the Managing Director of Patanjali Ayurved and is a Co-Founder of Patanjali Yogpeeth Haridwar. The freeze was initiated due to the promoter entities’ failure to meet the minimum public shareholding norms.

PFL announced on Tuesday a 12% rise in its net profit to INR 263.7 crore for the quarter ending March 2023.

In the corresponding period of the previous year, its net profit stood at INR 234.43 crore.

According to a regulatory filing, the total income of PFL increased from INR 6,676.19 crore in the corresponding period of the previous year to INR 7,962.95 crore in the fourth quarter of the last fiscal.

In the complete fiscal year of 2022-23, the net profit of PFL rose to INR 886.44 crore compared to INR 806.30 crore in the preceding fiscal year.

In the previous fiscal year, PFL’s total income surged to INR 31,821.45 crore, representing a significant increase from INR 24,284.38 crore recorded in 2021-22.

Coca-Cola’s global Chief Executive, James Quincey, has flown into India to assess the performance of the beverage maker’s fifth largest market by volumes, as confirmed by executives familiar with the matter. During his visit to India, Quincey is set to address employees, meet with bottling partners, and conduct market visits, aiming to gain insights into the local operations and opportunities for growth.

India holds immense significance as a pivotal market for Coca-Cola. The beverage giant is actively focused on fostering the growth of soft drinks in the country, leveraging its unwavering stability in the face of global volatility.

Despite sending an email to Coca-Cola inquiring about Quincey’s visit and requesting details and comments, no response has been received thus far.

“India is a high priority market for Coca-Cola, with huge under-penetrated category potential, providing a significant runway for growth. Hence the importance of this market among company leadership,” an executive with knowledge of the developments said.

In recent months, John Murphy, the global President and Chief Financial Officer of the company, also made a visit to India.

The beverage maker based in Atlanta acknowledged its India unit’s remarkable performance in 2022, with the country being its fifth largest market in terms of volume. However, the current April-June quarter has been characterized by uncharacteristically cool weather and excessive unseasonal rainfall in North India, affecting the demand for summer-specific products such as soft drinks, ice creams, and air conditioners.

The April-June summer period, which typically contributes a significant portion of annual sales for soft drinks, is experiencing a unique situation across North India. According to the weather forecaster IMD, there is no heat wave observed in the region, marking a departure from the usual weather patterns seen since 2014.

In its global earnings statement, Coca-Cola reported that its India unit had increased the availability of its products to over 300,000 stores during the last reported January-March quarter. This expansion in distribution resulted in a remarkable 3 billion transactions for the company.

Ahead of the summer season, the beverage maker of Coke and Thums Up revealed that it had successfully incorporated 40,000 new coolers during the quarter.

Quincey commended the Indian economy, characterizing it as “resilient” and highlighting its robust job market and strong consumer demand. He attributed the growth of their business in India to a higher number of retailers, strategic investments in modern cold-drink equipment, and effective pricing strategies.

Vikas Sharma will now directly lead operations end-to-end. He will oversee and manage every aspect of the company's operations, starting from the back-end distribution centers all the way to the last-mile delivery.

In a recent development, Zepto, the quick-commerce platform, has announced significant shifts in its top management. Vinay Dhanani, who previously served as the company’s Chief Operating Officer (COO), has been appointed as the President-supply chain and category, taking on a pivotal role within the organization.

Senior Vice President of operations Vikas Sharma will assume the role of Chief Operating Officer (COO), taking over from Dhanani. This transition reflects Zepto’s strategic decision to entrust Sharma with the responsibilities and leadership required to drive the company’s operations forward. Effective June 2023, Sharma’s expertise and experience will be instrumental in shaping Zepto’s operational excellence and ensuring continued growth and success.

Last month, Zepto, a company backed by Y Combinator’s Continuity Fund, made an announcement regarding the appointment of Ramesh Bafna as its Chief Financial Officer.

In June of last year, Ramesh Bafna assumed the role of Chief Financial Officer at CoinSwitch Kuber, a crypto trading platform. Recently, he transitioned from his position at CoinSwitch Kuber to join Zepto as their CFO. This decision aligns with Zepto’s goal of going public within the next two to three years, a plan set forth by the Mumbai-based startup.

According to a statement released by the company, Dhanani, who joined Zepto from the prominent ecommerce company Flipkart in July 2021, has been assigned the responsibility of integrating Zepto’s buy-side and sell-side category teams.

Meanwhile, in his new role as the COO, Vikas Sharma will now directly lead operations end-to-end. He will oversee and manage every aspect of the company’s operations, starting from the back-end distribution centers all the way to the last-mile delivery. Additionally, he will also be responsible for handling supply planning, ensuring a seamless and efficient flow of products throughout the entire process. This strategic appointment will enable Vikas Sharma to bring his expertise and leadership to streamline and optimize the operational functions of the company.

According to an official statement from the company, Jhaveri is set to assume the role of chief growth officer at Zepto, as Amritansu Nanda, the current holder of the position, will be departing to pursue a career break.

“Amritansu was pivotal in building the growth team from scratch and scaling Zepto into one of the fastest-growing internet companies in Indian history. After an incredible stint at Zepto, Amritansu will be moving on to take a well-deserved career break to focus on his family and health, and the Zepto team genuinely wishes him well,” the company said on Wednesday.“With a leadership team as strong as the one we have today, I am confident that we will build Zepto into a generational public company within 2-3 years,” Aadit Palicha, Co-founder and CEO, Zepto, said in a statement.

In May of the previous year, Zepto successfully secured a funding round, raising $200 million and achieving a valuation of $900 million. Within the online grocery industry, Zepto faces competition from various players including Swiggy Instamart, BigBasket with Tata backing, Blinkit under Zomato’s ownership, and Dunzo supported by Reliance.

Top deck reshuffle across the board

Zepto’s recent reorganization closely follows similar shifts in top management seen at other prominent food and grocery delivery companies such as Zomato and Swiggy.

Earlier this month, Zomato, headquartered in Gurgaon, made significant executive appointments. Rakesh Ranjan and Rinshul Chandra were promoted to the positions of Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer, respectively, for the food ordering and delivery vertical. Additionally, Rishi Arora was appointed as the CEO of Zomato’s business-to-business vertical, Hyperpure.

Prior to their recent appointments, Rakesh Ranjan served as the Business Head of New Businesses at Zomato, while Rinshul Chandra held the position of Vice President of Product within the company. On the other hand, Rishi Arora brings nearly nine years of experience from his tenure at Blinkit, previously known as Grofers, where he held the role of Senior Vice President of Operations. In July of last year, Arora was promoted to the position of Co-Founder at Blinkit.

Meanwhile, Swiggy, the Bengaluru-based food and grocery delivery platform, has been experiencing a wave of senior executive departures in recent months. Adding to this trend, it was reported on May 29 that Anuj Rathi, the current Senior Vice President of Revenue and Growth, is set to leave the company.

Apart from Rathi, Swiggy has also witnessed the departure of its Chief Technology Officer, Dale Vaz, and Vice President of Marketing, Ashish Lingamneni. Meanwhile, Karthik Gurumurthy, the head of the quick commerce business Instamart, is currently on a sabbatical, and Nishad Kenkre, the Vice President and Head of Revenue and Growth at Instamart, has left the company.

These nutrients work together to support various bodily functions and contribute to a healthy lifestyle.

Importance of Regular Milk Consumption:

  • Strong Bones and Teeth

One of the most well-known benefits of milk is its ability to promote strong bones and teeth. Milk is a rich source of calcium, which is crucial for the development and maintenance of healthy bones. Consuming an adequate amount of milk daily can help prevent conditions like osteoporosis and reduce the risk of fractures, especially in older adults. Furthermore, milk contains phosphorus, which works in synergy with calcium to enhance bone strength and density.

  • Promotes Muscle Growth and Repair

Milk is an excellent source of protein, containing all the essential amino acids required by the body. These amino acids play a vital role in muscle growth, repair, and maintenance. Athletes and individuals engaged in regular physical activity can benefit greatly from incorporating milk into their diet. The protein content in milk helps in the synthesis of new muscle tissues and aids in the recovery of damaged muscles after intense workouts.

  • Enhances Brain Function

The nutrients found in milk are not only beneficial for physical health but also for cognitive function. Milk is a source of vitamin B12, which is essential for maintaining healthy nerve cells and promoting brain function. It also contains iodine, which supports the production of thyroid hormones responsible for regulating brain development and cognitive abilities. Regular milk consumption can improve memory, concentration, and overall mental performance.

  • Supports a Healthy Heart

Maintaining a healthy heart is crucial for overall well-being, and milk can play a significant role in cardiovascular health. Studies have shown that milk consumption is associated with a lower risk of developing cardiovascular diseases such as hypertension and stroke. The combination of calcium, potassium, and magnesium in milk helps regulate blood pressure levels and reduce the risk of heart-related conditions.

  • Rich in Protein

Protein is an essential macronutrient required for various bodily functions. Milk is an excellent source of high-quality protein, containing all the essential amino acids needed by the body. The protein in milk provides the necessary building blocks for the growth, repair, and maintenance of tissues. Including milk in your diet ensures an adequate protein intake, which is vital for muscle development, immune function, and the production of enzymes and hormones.

  • Reduces Depression

Depression is a prevalent mental health condition affecting millions of people worldwide. Milk contains several nutrients that are known to have a positive impact on mood and mental well-being. Vitamin D, present in milk, plays a crucial role in regulating serotonin levels in the brain, which is a neurotransmitter associated with mood regulation. Additionally, the protein content in milk aids in the production of dopamine and norepinephrine, neurotransmitters that play a role in promoting feelings of happiness and well-being.

  • Boosts Metabolism

Maintaining a healthy metabolism is essential for weight management and overall energy levels. Milk contains essential vitamins and minerals that support a healthy metabolism. Vitamin B complex, present in milk, plays a vital role in converting food into energy. Furthermore, the protein content in milk requires more energy for digestion, thereby boosting the metabolism and promoting weight loss.

  • Reduces Risks of Obesity

Obesity is a growing global health concern, and maintaining a healthy weight is crucial for overall well-being. Milk can be a valuable addition to a weight management plan. The protein in milk helps increase satiety and reduce appetite, making you feel fuller for longer periods. Moreover, the combination of calcium and other nutrients in milk supports fat metabolism and helps in the maintenance of a healthy body weight.

  • Fights Multiple Diseases

Regular milk consumption has been linked to a reduced risk of various diseases. The vitamins and minerals found in milk contribute to a strong immune system, helping the body fight against infections and diseases. Additionally, milk consumption has been associated with a lower risk of developing conditions such as type 2 diabetes, certain types of cancer, and metabolic syndrome. The unique combination of nutrients in milk offers protective benefits and supports overall health.

  • Stress Buster

In today’s fast-paced world, stress has become a common problem for many individuals. Milk can act as a natural stress buster due to the presence of several beneficial components. The protein in milk helps in the production of serotonin, a neurotransmitter known to promote relaxation and improve mood. Additionally, milk contains antioxidants that combat the harmful effects of stress and protect the body from oxidative damage.

  • Prevents Heartburns

Heartburn, characterized by a burning sensation in the chest, is a common digestive issue. Milk can provide relief from heartburn symptoms due to its alkaline nature. The calcium content in milk helps reduce the production of stomach acid, alleviating discomfort and acidity. It is important to note that milk may not be suitable for everyone experiencing heartburn, and individuals with lactose intolerance or other underlying conditions should consult a healthcare professional.

  • Boosts Immune System

A strong immune system is essential for fighting off infections and diseases. Milk contains various nutrients that support immune function, including vitamins A and D, zinc, and selenium. These nutrients play a crucial role in enhancing the body’s natural defense mechanisms and promoting a healthy immune response. Regular milk consumption can help strengthen the immune system and reduce the risk of infections.

  • Weight Management

Maintaining a healthy weight is essential for overall health and well-being. Milk can be a valuable asset in a weight management plan. The protein content in milk helps increase satiety and reduce appetite, making it easier to control calorie intake. Furthermore, the calcium in milk is involved in the regulation of fat metabolism, potentially aiding in weight loss and the maintenance of a healthy body composition.

  • Benefits for Skin and Hair

The nutrients found in milk can have a positive impact on the health and appearance of your skin and hair. The protein in milk supports the growth and repair of skin tissues, helping maintain a youthful and radiant complexion. Milk also contains lactic acid, which acts as a natural exfoliant, removing dead skin cells and promoting a smoother texture. Additionally, the vitamins and minerals in milk contribute to healthy hair growth and strength.

  • Improves Digestive Health

A healthy digestive system is crucial for overall well-being and nutrient absorption. Milk contains lactose, a natural sugar found in dairy products, which can aid in the growth of beneficial gut bacteria. These probiotics help maintain a healthy balance of gut flora and support proper digestion. However, individuals with lactose intolerance should opt for lactose-free milk or consult a healthcare professional.

How much milk should we consume daily?

The recommended daily intake of milk varies depending on age, sex, and overall health. In general, adults should aim for two to three servings of dairy products per day, including milk. This can be achieved by consuming a glass of milk (about 250 ml) with meals or incorporating milk into other dishes like smoothies, cereals, or soups. It is important to note that individual needs may vary, and consulting a healthcare professional or registered dietitian can provide personalized recommendations.

World Milk Day serves as a reminder of the incredible health benefits associated with regular milk consumption. From promoting strong bones and muscles to enhancing brain function and supporting a healthy heart, milk provides a wide array of essential nutrients necessary for overall well-being. By incorporating milk into your daily routine, you can enjoy the mind-blowing advantages it offers, ranging from improved digestive health to weight management, disease prevention, and better skin and hair health.
