As the year 2023 approaches, brands are issuing annual reports to capture the mood and interests of Indians across all areas through data and order history. In keeping up with this, Zomato and swiggy released its annual trends report on Wednesday, which provided a fascinating glimpse into people’s dining preferences and also revealed the most ordered food item on the app!
It’s no surprise that it’s the much-loved biryani. According to Zomato, biryani was the most-ordered food of the year once again, with users ordering 186 biryani every minute in 2022! “This year, too, Biryani proved to be the most demanding food . “We delivered 186 of them per minute,” the company claimed. Biryani was followed by pizza, with 139 servings delivered.
Let’s have a look at other dishes which topped the list.
- Gulab Jamun
With a total of 2.1 million orders, gulab jamun was the most ordered dessert on Swiggy followed by rasmalai with 1.27 million orders. By keeping all out sweet cravings it has to be gulab jamun as it is everyone’s favorite and a lip smacking dessert.
- Popcorn – As for late night cravings, popcorn came to the rescue as 22 lakh orders of popcorn were placed on the food tech app during the year- a majority of which were post 10pm.
- Samosas
The desi samosa was ordered six times more than chicken wings and bagged the position of some most frequently ordered snacks. Pav bhaji was India’s second favorite snack with 2.1 million orders.
