World Champion PV Sindhu’s Diet And Workout Regime: What She Eats In A Day?

Aside from her incredible talent, racquet skills, court craft, excellent footwork and comebacks, and years of hard work, what distinguishes PV Sindhu? Of course, her eight hours of practice and 400m runs per day in multiple sets. Along with this, 600 pushups and 2400 abdominal exercises per week charge her up and sets her apart from the crowd.

Pusarla Venkata Sindhu is a sporting legend of the twenty-first century and a shining beacon for Indian sportswomen. The shuttler has moved to the top of world rankings in the last decade, winning dozens of titles worldwide.

She was India’s first woman to win a silver medal at the Olympics and gold at the BWF World Championships. She won a bronze medal in Tokyo 2020, becoming the first Indian woman to win two Olympic medals. Sindhu won the gold medal recently in women’s singles badminton at the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games. The 27-year-old defeated Michelle Li of Canada to become champion for the first time in her career.

 What Does It Take to Be Sindhu?

PV Sindhu’s journey has been difficult. Her determination and passion for the sport, as well as her dedication and amount of hard work, will stun you. Her motivation comes from a well-planned workout regimen and a healthy diet.

So, What’s on Sindhu’s Plate?

Sindhu makes sure her diet has a balance of protein and carbohydrates. Eggs, milk, and fruits are among her breakfast staples. She eats a balanced lunch, rice, vegetables, and lean meat. Even during her evening workouts, the ace badminton player keeps a bowl of fruits, dried fruits, nuts, and a bottle of fresh juice nearby. Sindhu prefers light dinners and a low-carb diet; her dinner plate consists of grilled meat and vegetables. PV Sindhu strives for a good amount of sleep to keep herself motivated and focused on the game, which helps to clear her mind and concentrate.

  • To become a champion, you must eat what you are told. Her diet is designed to provide her with energy and endurance. Each meal is carefully measured and tracked. 
  • She also has a blood test every two months to adjust her nutrition and supplements to address any deficiencies.
  • Sindhu enjoys a cheat day every month or two to satisfy her cravings! And on this day, she mostly prefers Hyderabadi Biryani.

Sindhu’s Fitness Regime

  • The medals and glory are not easily achievable. PV Sindhu works hard to train and improve her fitness to perform consistently.
  • Her day begins at 3:30 a.m., and she works out for 6 to 8 hours daily.
  • She does combination workouts every day to increase her endurance and strength. This includes two to three 400m runs per day and a two-and-a-half kilometre run on other days.
  • P.V. Sindhu performs 100 push-ups and 200 sit-ups on a daily basis. On average, she performs 600 pushups and 2400 abdominal exercises per week to activate her core and abdominal muscles.
  • If you thought that was enough, you clearly don’t know what you’re talking about! Sindhu combines all her workouts with Yoga, pranayama, kapalabhati, and swimming.
  • Her first training session begins at 4:30 a.m. and lasts until 7 p.m. with the coach. It is not uncommon for Sindhu and her coach to be engrossed in a thousand shuttle battles in a single session.
  • At 7 a.m., a well-deserved breakfast break begins.
  • Her next session begins at 8 a.m. and lasts about two hours.
  • Practice begins around noon and is frequently as long as an actual match.
  • Sindhu works out in a gym for about 2 hours in the evening.
