Indore snack hub ‘56 Dukan’ offers free Poha and Jalebi to early voters, aims to boost turnout in Madhya Pradesh assembly elections

Published:

In an effort to raise awareness and inspire voters to participate in the upcoming Madhya Pradesh assembly elections scheduled for November 17, a snack hub in the city of Indore, within the state, has declared its intention to provide complimentary snacks to all those who cast their votes early in the morning.

As per reports from the PTI news agency, stores situated in the renowned ’56 Dukan’ food hub in Indore will be providing complimentary morning treats such as jalebi and poha to voters who participate in the election before 9 am. This distinctive initiative is expected to enhance the voter turnout in the city, as it is likely to entice numerous Indore voters to take advantage of the opportunity and enjoy free snacks.

“Indore occupies the top position in the country as far as cleanliness is concerned. Now we want our city to be at the top in voting as well. For this, we have decided to offer free poha and jalebi to those who cast their vote early,” Gunjan Sharma, president of the 56 Dukan Traders Association, said

To partake in the complimentary snack promotion, voters must cast their ballots on or before 9 am on November 17 and display the indelible ink mark as proof when redeeming the offer.

Furthermore, individuals who vote after 9 am will be eligible for a 10 percent discount on poha and jalebi for the duration of the day, according to Sharma.

Significantly, 56 Dukan, renowned for its delectable jalebi and poha, has been accorded the designation of a “Clean Street Food Hub” by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).

Poha-jalebi is a popular breakfast combination in Indore, with poha being a savory dish made from flattened rice and jalebi being a deep-fried delicacy soaked in sugar syrup.

The Madhya Pradesh assembly elections, featuring 230 seats, are scheduled for November 17, with the vote count set for December 3.

During the 2018 assembly elections, there was a 67 percent voter turnout in the urban area of Indore, which comprises five seats and boasts a registered voter count of 14.72 lakh.

The voter count has now increased to 15.55 lakh.
