If you are vitamin D deficient the first thing that everyone will suggest is to sit in the sun and soak all the sunlight, well that’s not the right way to satisfy your deficiency. No doubt that sitting in the sunshine helps with vitamin D but it is not the prime and most necessary source of vitamin D. Always cover yourself and wear sunscreen to avoid any skin problems caused by the harsh sun.

A deficiency of vitamin d can be caused by a number of reasons and the most important factors are-

  • Not getting enough vitamin D in your diet and through sunlight
  • Your body isn’t properly absorbing or using vitamin
  • Some weight loss surgeries

You can get all the benefits of vitamin D by consuming certain foods which are packed with the goodness of vitamin D and will be beneficial for you in many ways.

Here are a few of them-

  1. Egg yolk

Vitamin D is not exclusively found in fish eggs yet is an excellent source of protein and Vitamin D  as well as a highly nutritious food.  The white part of the egg contains the majority of its protein, whereas the yolk contains the majority of the fat, vitamins, and minerals. One large egg yolk contains 37 IU of vitamin D.

  1. Mushrooms

Mushrooms are the only adequate non-animal source of vitamin D, except for fortified foods.

When exposed to UV radiation, mushrooms, like humans, may manufacture vitamin D. You should include mushrooms in your diet to ensure a well-balanced diet rich in all vitamins

  1. Salmon

Salmon is an excellent source of lean protein and omega-3 fatty acids. It also contains a lot of vitamin D and plenty of vitamin D is found in cooked salmon. Increase your vitamin D levels by eating salmon.

Many fortified foods like cow milk, orange juice, soy milk, and oat cereal are great sources of vitamin D. Incorporate these in your diet and see the difference in your vitamin levels.
