High blood pressure (hypertension) is a condition in which the force of blood pumping through the arteries is consistently too high. When this occurs, the walls of the arteries are extended beyond their normal limit, which can lead to damage and scarring and put people at risk for heart attack, stroke, and kidney disease. 

Blood pressure is expressed in two numbers: 

  1. Systolic blood pressure (the first/top number): measures the pressure in the blood vessels when the heart beats
  2. Diastolic blood pressure (the second/bottom number): measures the pressure in the blood vessels when the heart is at rest between beats

The normal blood pressure of a person is less than 120/80 mmHg 

There are some changes that a person can adopt in their daily lifestyle that can help lower blood pressure.

1.   Eat a balanced diet that is low in salt

2.   Avoid alcohol

3.   Exercise regularly

4.   Quit smoking

5.   Manage stress

These help in maintaining the levels of blood pressure.

However, a person might have high blood pressure due to many other reasons. There is one homemade drink that is beneficial to your health.

Methi Water

Put some methi seeds/ fenugreek soaked in water overnight. The next morning, strain the water and drink it empty stomach.

Methi or fenugreek water is high in fibre, which helps in controlling your blood pressure.

There are beetroot, tomato, pomegranate and berry juice that helps to keep a check on blood pressure.

With such a busy schedule, it has become more important to have a healthy lifestyle.
