Ingredients :

  • 1 cup sooji (semolina)
  • ½ cup bhaang paste
  • 1/2 cup ghee (clarified butter)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 cups water
  • 1/2 tsp cardamom powder
  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts (almonds, cashews, pistachios)

Instruction:

  • Heat a large pan over medium heat and add the ghee. Once the ghee is melted, add bhaang paste and before it gets too hot,add the sooji and stir continuously for about 8-10 minutes or until the sooji turns light brown and fragrant.
  • In a separate pan, heat the water and sugar over medium heat. Stir the mixture until the sugar has completely dissolved.
  • Add the sugar syrup to the pan with the sooji and mix well. Cook the mixture for 2-3 minutes or until the liquid has been absorbed by the sooji.
  • Add the cardamom powder and chopped nuts to the pan and stir well. Cook the halwa for another 2-3 minutes until the nuts are toasted and the mixture is fragrant.
  • Serve the halwa hot or warm, garnished with additional chopped nuts.
