Look out for these Detox Drink ingredients in 2023

0

After a hard day at work or chasing our kids around, a lot of us feel worn out and unrested. Although we might wish to attribute our tiredness to seasonal allergies, pollution, or even an excessively decadent Halloween party. Our bodies go through a process called detoxification to rid themselves of poisons. For many people, this may include pollution from outside sources, cigarette smoke, and dietary additives. Since ancient times, people have used detox beverages to lessen inflammation and reestablish balance.

Drinking detox beverages has several benefits. They can aid in reducing congestion and enhancing digestion, which can help with symptoms including headache, restlessness, nausea, and exhaustion. By assisting you to get rid of toxins that have been collected in your body, they also stimulate weight loss. However, there are risks involved with detox drinks, just like with other dietary supplements or food items. After consuming them, some people claim to feel lightheaded or dizzy, while others worry about potential side effects including nausea or diarrhea.

What is a Detox Drink?

Drinks for detoxification typically combine water with fruit, vegetables, herbs, or other natural substances that are believed to help your body more effectively remove toxins from your system. Everything from flavored waters to juices, teas, smoothies, coffee, and more might fall under this category. Detox drinks are popular with people looking for a quick and easy approach to incorporating healthy nutrients into their diets since they deliver natural substances in a compact and easily ingestible form.

Here are some essential components to look for in your detox beverage:

1. LIME/LEMON

Lemons and limes are great sources of essential vitamins, minerals, and soluble fiber and have antioxidant characteristics. Lemons also include vitamin C, which helps with weight loss and lowers the risk of cancer, heart disease, kidney stones, anemia, digestive problems, and even anemia. In addition, limes are a fantastic source of important vitamins and minerals like potassium, calcium, magnesium, and A, B, C, and D. Of course, adding the sour flavor of lemon or lime to the majority of drinks can add a new level of refreshing flavor.

2. GINGER

One of the stars in our lineup of 2023 taste trends is ginger, another nutritious and tasty addition to detox drinks. Due to its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant characteristics, ginger is excellent for reducing swelling in general and in joints, as well as perhaps preventing infections and disease.

This beverage may help you wake up and strengthen your immune system for the day ahead thanks to the vitamin C-rich lemon. This one goes well with a cup of tea or coffee in the morning. You’ll need a liter of filtered water, a lemon, and at least an ounce of ginger root to give it a try. Clean, cut, squeeze, and infuse!

3. MINT

There are more than a dozen different kinds of mint, popularly used in a wide range of foods and beverages, including peppermint and spearmint. Mint may bring additional minerals like iron, manganese, and folate to your detox drinks in addition to a variety of flavors that range from sweet and cool to icy-hot menthol. Mint can enhance brain function and is high in antioxidants. Additionally to masking foul breath, mint helps ease the discomfort of breastfeeding, indigestion, IBS symptoms, and even the symptoms of the common cold.

4. DANDELION

Dandelion is more than simply a common yard weed; it is frequently used in teas. Dandelions are a source of antioxidants and a natural diuretic. These flowers have numerous health benefits, including the ability to reduce cholesterol and inflammation, control blood sugar, lower blood pressure, improve digestion, and promote weight loss. Although the taste of dandelion is typically described as earthy and nutty, eating the blossoms may have a somewhat more sweet flavor.

5. Good Old pomegranate

Pomegranate and beetroot, which have several cleansing and detoxifying properties and are also highly valued in Ayurveda, are excellent for detoxification. The juice’s usage of fresh aloe vera gel boosts your immune system even more.

Try to include these healthy ingredients in your diet and begin your journey toward wellness and positivity. Remember, fitness is a journey toward self-discovery and not a destination.

Pizza

Pizza is everyone’s favourite and a cheesy delight in every bite. A man from the United Kingdom, Callum Ryan, recently made headlines for his unique approach to satisfying his pizza cravings.

Instead of simply ordering from a local pizzeria, Ryan flew to Italy to savour the cheesy treat and save money in the process. The reason behind his daring feat was due to the high delivery fee charged by Domino’s Pizza in the UK, with a medium pizza costing around 19.99 euros, excluding the delivery charge.

Determined to save money, Ryan set himself a challenge to fly to Italy and purchase a pizza for less than the cost of ordering from Domino’s. He documented the entire journey on his Instagram account. To keep his expenses low, Ryan purchased a last-minute flight ticket for eight euros and visited a pizzeria in Milan, where he was able to enjoy pizza with table service for 9.72 euros.

In total, Ryan spent 17.72 euros for the complete trip, including both flight and food. According to Ryan, the journey was a success and the experience was worth it. The story of his adventure has inspired many pizza lovers across the world, who are now considering similar trips to taste their favourite comfort food in different countries.

“Do you think the pizza was worth the trip? I can’t believe how close it was,” Ryan wrote as a caption to the Reel. Watch it here:

The video, in no time, grabbed attention on the internet and people reacted to it with interesting comments. “I want more of this!!!” “This is the stupid I really want to do,” a user’s comment read.

“Dear friend, I advise you to repeat your experiment. But come to Naples, which is the homeland of pizza. You’ve never eaten anything tastier… and believe me, you’ll pay much less,” wrote another user.

Billionaire Bill Gates recently attempted to make the Indian staple dish of roti in a video with celebrity chef Eitan Bernath.

Eitan posted the video on Twitter and wrote, “@BillGates and I had a blast making Indian Roti together. I just got back from Bihar, India where I met wheat farmers whose yields have increased thanks to new early sowing technologies and women from “Didi Ki Rasoi” canteens who shared their expertise in making Roti.”

In the video, Gates is seen making the roti with Bernath, but unfortunately, the rotis did not turn out to be perfectly round, a requirement for all Indian moms according to popular belief. However, despite not being able to make round rotis, Gates did admit that the rotis tasted good.

Bill Gates is currently focused on his family, health, AI, and climate change. In a recent statement, the Microsoft co-founder mentioned his desire to continue working on projects he started over two decades ago, intending to give back the majority of his resources to society.

“I’m still going full speed on the project I began more than two decades ago, which is to give the vast majority of my resources back to society,” he wrote.

The video of Gates attempting to make roti is a testament to his curious nature and willingness to learn new skills, even at the age of 67. It also highlights the cultural significance of roti in India and the high standards that are set for the dish.

United Nations’ FAO says World Food Prices has come down for 10th Consecutive Month

0

The United Nations food agency FAO’s world price index fell in January for the 10th consecutive month and is now down some 18% from a record high hit last March following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

The Food and Agriculture Organization’s (FAO) price index, which tracks the most globally traded food commodities, averaged 131.2 points last month against 132.2 for December, the agency said on Friday. It was the lowest reading since September 2021.

The December figure was revised down from an original estimate of 132.4.

Falls in the prices of vegetable oils, dairy and sugar helped pull down the index, while cereals and meat remained largely stable, the FAO said.

In separate cereal supply and demand estimates on Friday, the FAO raised its forecast for global cereal production in 2022 to 2.765 billion tonnes from a previous estimate of 2.756 billion tonnes.

6-year-old orders food worth $1000 from a Food Delivery App on Dad’s Phone

Food Delivery App

In recent times, the excessive use of smartphones has become a norm, even among children. Parents often give in to their young children’s demands of using their smartphones to watch videos and play games. However, one incident involving a 6-year-old boy and his father’s phone has shed light on the dangers of this practice.

The boy, from Chesterfield Township in Metro Detroit, was given his father’s phone by Keith Stonehouse to play games on a Grubhub food delivery app for half an hour before bed. However, instead of playing games, the boy took advantage of the situation and ordered a massive amount of food worth $1000 (approximately INR 82,000) from various restaurants. The boy even went ahead to add a 25% tip on each order.

It wasn’t until the doorbell kept ringing and multiple food deliveries started arriving at the Stonehouse residence that Keith realized what was happening. The food orders included shrimp appetizers from Happy’s restaurant, chicken pita sandwiches from Shawarma, ice cream from Leo’s Coney Island, salads, chilli cheese fries, grape leaves, rice, and more.

Stonehouse described the situation as “something out of a ‘Saturday Night Live’ skit” and was shocked to see his bank account being drained. After the incident gained public attention, Grubhub reached out to the Stonehouse family and offered them a $1,000 gift card as compensation.

This incident serves as a warning to parents to be mindful of their children’s smartphone usage and to have proper parental controls in place. It also highlights the need for companies to consider implementing additional security measures to prevent such incidents from happening in the future.

Kerala steeply increased its Food Safety raids and inspections, says Minister Veena George

The Kerala state government has significantly increased inspections and searches in food establishments, including restaurants, bakeries, and eateries, to enforce the Food Safety and Standards Act more stringently, according to the state’s Health and Family Welfare Minister, Veena George.

Speaking to the state assembly in response to a motion brought forward by Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, the minister highlighted that the FSSAI Act was enacted in 2006, while regulations under the act were put into effect in 2011. At that time, there were only 62 food safety officers, but now, there are 140 food safety officers in 140 circles across the state.

During the previous United Democratic Front (UDF) tenure from 2012-13, there were 6,358 food safety searches conducted. The numbers rose to 388, 1,195, and 3,525 in subsequent years until 2015-16. After the Left Democratic Front (LDF) took over in 2016, the number of searches increased to 5,497, then surpassed 20,000, and by December of last year, the number had already surpassed 55,000.

Minister George reminded the importance of ensuring that all food served in the state is safe, clean, and free of toxins. She stated that the food safety department is putting a strong emphasis on enforcing the FSSAI Act to achieve this goal.
