Zomato Q3 results disappoint investors amid Food Deliveries Slowdown

The latest financial results from Zomato Ltd. for the quarter ending December (Q3FY23) were not well received by the market. The company reported a slowdown in the food delivery business after Diwali, with modest growth in key metrics.

The gross order value in the food business increased by only 0.7% compared to about 3% and 10% in Q1 and Q2, respectively. Additionally, the growth of average monthly transacting customers was flat at 17.4 million in Q3.

Zomato attributed the slowdown to a few temporary factors, including a macro slowdown for the mid-market segment, a boom in dining out for the premium segment, and a boom in travel at the premium end. However, there were also some positive developments. The contribution profit as a percentage of gross order value reached a multi-quarter high of 5.1% due to cost efficiencies.

Overall, including the quick commerce business Blinkit, adjusted Ebitda losses increased to Rs 266 crore in Q3 from a loss of Rs 192 crore in Q2. Excluding Blinkit, losses at the adjusted Ebitda level were lower at Rs 38 crore compared to Rs 60 crore in Q2. Despite improvement in key metrics such as orders and transacting customers in the quick commerce business, Zomato still operates at a loss at the adjusted Ebitda level.

Zomato remains confident in reaching its goal of becoming adjusted Ebitda break-even excluding Blinkit by Q2FY24. The company even expects to reach this level in Q4FY23 with the proper execution of its plans. However, the recent launch of Zomato Gold in January, which offers free delivery benefits to customers, may have a short-term impact on the company’s finances.

Starbucks Coffee: A couple gets a bill over INR 3 Lakhs for two coffee

Starbucks

The cost of coffee at premium coffee shops has always been a topic of debate, with some people finding the beverages overpriced and others considering them worth the price. However, a recent experience in Oklahoma saw a couple charged an excessive amount for their usual coffee order at a local Starbucks drive-thru.

Jesse and Deedee O’Dell were shocked to see that they were charged $4,456.27(INR 3 Lakh+) for just two cups of coffee, which usually costs around $10, as reported by WSMV4. The couple was not initially aware of the inflated charge but discovered it when Deedee’s card was declined during a mall trip with her children.

Despite numerous attempts to contact Starbucks customer service, the couple did not receive a refund for the incorrect charge. Starbucks attributed the mistake to a potential human error. In the end, the company compensated the couple with two separate cheques.

Jesse said, “We contacted their (Starbucks) customer service helpline probably 30 to 40 times that day. We got a call from a representative who said they are sending new checks. But as of today, we still have not received checks.”

The couple also filed a report with the Tulsa Police Department. The situation got so bad that the couple were forced to cancel their scheduled family vacation.

“We had planned to take a trip but had to cancel and the tickets are non-refundable. This is something that has caused duress in our family and hopefully, others don’t have to go through something like this,” Jess was quoted as saying.

This incident serves as a reminder to always review bills carefully and be mindful when using credit or debit cards.

CHUK launches Sustainable packaging Solutions for Food Delivery and QSR Brands

CHUK

The food delivery industry is growing rapidly, and as a result, many food delivery brands are looking for more sustainable packaging options. With the increasing convenience of food delivery services, there is a concern about the rise in non-biodegradable waste caused by the use of materials like plastic, thermocol, and aluminium for delivery. These materials are not environmentally friendly and pose a threat to the planet.

To address this issue, CHUK, a subsidiary of Yash Pakka Limited, has launched compostable delivery containers. CHUK is a well-known brand for compostable tableware, and the launch of these delivery containers is part of the company’s effort to eliminate the use of single-use plastic in food delivery and contribute to a cleaner planet.

These containers come in four different sizes and are equipped with snug-fit lids, making them spill-proof and leak-proof. They are also microwave, freezer, and oven safe, and are free of artificial chemicals, making them safe for food.

All CHUK products, including the delivery containers, are made in India by Yash Pakka Limited and are made from bagasse, a byproduct of sugarcane. The company sources 90% of its raw materials locally, and the containers will turn into compost within 180 days after use. The development of these delivery containers was based on extensive research and testing in real-life delivery scenarios to ensure their effectiveness and safety for use.

CHUK’s launch of compostable delivery containers is an important step towards a more sustainable food delivery industry and a cleaner planet. These containers offer a safe and environmentally friendly alternative to single-use plastic and other non-biodegradable materials.

11 Best Eating Habits for your Gut Health

0
fiber

Have you ever heard the term “gut instinct”? This common expression is based on the idea that our gut and emotions are inextricably linked. This connection, it turns out, is not merely metaphorical; there is actual science behind it. Your gut health influences not only your physical well-being but also your mental health and overall mood. It’s even been claimed that your gut controls everything in your body.

The gut-brain axis is a pathway that connects the gut and the brain. This link is bidirectional, which means that your gut health can influence your mood and vice versa. Stress and anxiety, for example, can cause digestive symptoms such as bloating, constipation, and diarrhea. on the other hand, an imbalance can contribute to depression, anxiety, and other mood disorders.

Thus, Your digestive system is the foundation of your overall health and well-being. It not only aids digestion but also has an impact on your mood, energy levels, and immunity. As a result, it is critical to adopt healthy eating habits that promote gut health. Here are the 15 best gut-healthy eating habits:

1 Eat plenty of fiber

Fiber is important for digestive health because it acts as a broom in the gut, sweeping out waste and toxins. Whole grains, fruits, vegetables, legumes, and nuts are all high in fiber. Make an effort to consume at least 25-35 grams of fiber per day.

2 Consume fermented foods

Fermented foods like yogurt, kefir, kimchi, sauerkraut, and pickles are rich in probiotics, which are beneficial bacteria that help maintain a healthy gut microbiome. Including these foods in your diet can help improve digestion, boost immunity, and reduce inflammation.

3 Avoid processed foods

Probiotics, which are beneficial bacteria that help maintain a healthy gut microbiome, are abundant in fermented foods such as yogurt, kefir, kimchi, sauerkraut, and pickles. Including these foods in your diet can help with digestion, immunity, and inflammation reduction.

4 Stay hydrated

Drinking plenty of water is crucial for digestive health as it helps flush out waste and toxins, prevent constipation, and keep the gut lining moist. Aim to drink at least 8 glasses of water per day.

5 Limit alcohol consumption

Excessive alcohol consumption can cause damage to the gut lining, disruption of the balance of bacteria in the gut microbiome, and inflammation. If you must consume alcohol, limit yourself to one serving per day and choose low-alcohol or alcohol-free options.

6 Eat more plant-based foods

7 Plant-based foods rich in fiber, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that support gut health include fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, and nuts. Make plant-based foods your primary source of nutrition.

7 Include prebiotic-rich foods

Prebiotics are foods that feed the good bacteria in your gut, promoting a healthy gut microbiome. Garlic, onions, leeks, asparagus, and bananas are all high in prebiotics.

8 Avoid added sugars

Sugars added to processed foods, sweetened beverages, and snacks can harm gut health by altering the balance of bacteria in the gut microbiome. Instead, choose naturally sweet foods such as fruits.

9  Limit high-fat foods

High-fat foods can slow digestion and cause inflammation, both of which are detrimental to gut health. Choose healthy fats like avocados, nuts, seeds, and olive oil instead.

10 Chew your food well

Chew your food thoroughly to aid digestion and make it easier on your gut. This can also help you enjoy your food more and avoid overeating.

The importance of Gut Health, therefore, is a key indicator of Mood and Overall Health. When your gut microbiome is imbalanced, it can lead to digestive problems, inflammation, and a weakened immune system. So, take our points in mind and strike for a balanced diet that suits your lifestyle. Always remember to listen to your gut and aligned it to your needs, this will manifest in overall well-being and a greater mindset.

How Banana’s help CEOs?

Eating a Banana

Successful CEOs are known for having sharp minds, making quick decisions, and working tirelessly. However, their commitment to a healthy lifestyle, which includes incorporating nutritious foods into their daily diet, is frequently overlooked. Many successful CEOs understand the importance of a well-balanced diet in maintaining physical and mental health.

But there is one ingredient that is common for CEOs to use as a recipe for success. They are bananas!!

Bananas are a great source of natural energy and a favorite of successful CEOs. They contain a lot of potassium, fiber, and vitamin C, all of which help with cardiovascular health and brain function. Bananas are another healthy snack option because they are low in calories and easy to transport. To stay energized throughout the day, many successful CEOs prefer a banana as a mid-morning or mid-afternoon snack.

Bananas are high in vitamins and minerals like vitamin B6, potassium, and magnesium, which promote brain health and cognitive function.

  • Vitamin B6 is required for the production of neurotransmitters, which are chemicals that aid in the transmission of signals in the brain and influence mood, behavior, and cognition.
  • Potassium aids in the regulation of fluid balance and blood pressure, both of which are essential for brain health.
  • Magnesium is required for normal brain function and is involved in brain cell communication.

Bananas contain these rich vitamins and minerals, and As for why CEOs like bananas, it is not necessarily because of their impact on brain function, but because they are a convenient, healthy snack that can be easily transported and eaten on the go. Bananas are also high in energy and nutrients, which can help people stay alert and focused all day. CEOs tend to be quick decision makers, thus bananas as a quick and easy-to-go snack a favorite.

Some of your favorite entrepreneurs incorporate bananas into their diet:

  1. John Mackey, founder of Whole Foods.

John Mackey believes that a plant-based diet is the best way to improve overall health and lower your risk of cancer and other diseases. He also chooses plant-based for a variety of environmental reasons.

Mackey bases his dietary decisions on two simple principles:

Consume whole foods and avoid anything processed or refined.

Consume plenty of vegetables, fruits, beans, nuts, whole grains, seeds, and smoothies made with bananas.

  1. Seth Godin: The marketing Genuis:

Seth Godin approaches his diet in the same way that he approaches his work. “Instead of wondering when your next vacation is, maybe you should set up a life you don’t need to escape from,” he is famous for saying. He applies this to his diet as well, and recommends “creating a diet you don’t have to escape from.” He achieves this by eating all of his favorite foods in moderation.

Here’s a typical breakfast that Seth Godin enjoys: In a blender, combine frozen bananas, hemp powder, almond milk, dried plums, and walnuts.

  1. Steve Jobs and Jack Dorsey

Former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey and Apple founder Steve Jobs have both experimented with vegan diets, with the latter even eating only fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds for a time. Jobs claims that switching to a vegan diet prevented him from emitting any body odor, thereby eliminating the need for deodorant and regular showers. Unsurprisingly, Jobs’ claim has not been verified, but skipping your morning hygiene routine could save you a lot of time.

  1.  Brad Lande, Head of Birchbox Man

Brad despised his half-asleep mornings. He decided to completely rethink his morning routine in his thirties and adopted five healthy morning habits. Two of them are related to nutrition:

Consume hot water with a squeeze of lemon. It reduces blood pressure, protects against infection, cleanses the liver, and rejuvenates the skin.

Make a healthy morning smoothie. Brad’s favorite recipe includes the following ingredients: coconut water, kale, banana, blueberries, bee pollen, almond butter, and ice.
