Celebrity Chef Gordon Ramsay trolled as Indian unhappy him for making Not-a “Butter Chicken Curry”

0

Gordon Ramsay is a renowned celebrity chef, known for his culinary skills and scathing criticism. He has a reputation for being brutally honest and straightforward, which has earned him a legion of fans as well as detractors. While he has made a career out of critiquing the food of others, he recently found himself at the center of a social media storm when he decided to tinker with one of India’s most popular dishes – Butter Chicken.

Butter Chicken is a beloved dish that is enjoyed by people all over India. It is a dish that is rich in flavor, with a creamy and buttery texture, and a tangy taste that is hard to resist. However, Gordon Ramsay dared to mess with this much-loved dish and posted a recipe video of his version of the dish on Instagram.

“Tag someone who loves butter chicken curry! Learn how it’s made on the @gordonramsayacademy evening butter chicken class or half-day Taste of India,” he captioned the video.

https://www.instagram.com/reel/Cowfaovjqfs/?utm_source=ig_embed&ig_rid=1623ae2c-cfef-4e63-9420-7ec8d51a986c&ig_mid=1A5F0E30-B0E4-43C2-AB4D-E4BF38C34B16

The video showed Ramsay boiling rice and sautéing onions with garlic and green chilies to prepare the dish. He then added spice powders, tomato puree, and chicken to cook it and garnished it with coriander leaves before serving it with steamed rice. However, his attempt at preparing the dish did not go down well with viewers, who quickly called him out for his version of the dish.

Many people took offense at the fact that Ramsay referred to the dish as “butter chicken curry.” This is because, in India, the term “curry” is often used as a catch-all term for a variety of dishes, and it is not specific to Butter Chicken. As a result, many people felt that Ramsay was being ignorant and disrespectful towards Indian cuisine.

The backlash on social media was immediate and intense, with many people calling out Ramsay for his lack of sensitivity and cultural awareness. Some accused him of being dismissive of Indian food, while others criticized him for trying to pass off his version of the dish as authentic.

While Ramsay has yet to respond to the criticism, the incident has once again highlighted the need for cultural sensitivity and awareness when it comes to food and cuisine. It has also served as a reminder that food is not just about taste and flavor, but it is also about culture, history, and tradition.

Hookah Bars are now illegal in Chhattisgarh; Announces State CM Bhupesh Baghel

hookah

The Chhattisgarh government, led by Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, has taken a significant step towards creating a healthier environment in the state by implementing strict provisions to prevent the operation of hookah bars. This decision was made after receiving several complaints regarding the high consumption of hookah and other addictive substances among young people in various eateries, hotels, and restaurants.

The harmful effects of hookah are well-known, and the practice of smoking it in communal hookah bars is not only detrimental to the health of the smokers but also promotes addiction. In response to this issue, the government has amended the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products (Prohibition of Advertisement and Regulation of Trade and Commerce, Production, Supply, and Distribution) Act, 2003, to prohibit the operation of any kind of hookah bar in the state. The operation of hookah or ‘shisha’ in any communal hookah bar has also been banned.

Under the new law, any material or object used as a subject or means of use in the hookah bar will be seized if found to be in operation. Furthermore, any person found operating a hookah bar will be charged with a non-bailable offense and could face imprisonment for up to three years, but not less than one year, and a fine of up to INR 50,000, but not less than INR 10,000. Similarly, any person found smoking through a hookah in a hookah bar will be fined up to INR 5,000, but not less than INR 1,000.

This move by the Chhattisgarh government is a significant step towards creating a healthier environment in the state and curbing the growing trend of drug addiction among youth. The police department has taken swift action against all hookah bars, resulting in their closure. The amended Act was published in the Chhattisgarh Gazette on February 10, 2023, after obtaining competent permission from the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly.

The ban on hookah bars will help in reducing the consumption of addictive substances and preventing young people from falling into the trap of addiction. It is a crucial step towards building a healthier and safer society, and other states should follow this example to create a better environment for their citizens. The Chhattisgarh government’s move is laudable and deserves appreciation for the well-being of its citizens.

The Surprising Food trend of 2023 that you will find delicious to try

0

Korean cuisine has been growing in popularity in recent years, with more and more people around the world discovering and embracing the unique flavors and dishes of this fascinating and diverse cuisine. Let’s explore the rise in popularity of Korean food, the reasons behind its increasing popularity, and the economic benefits it brings to South Korea.

The popularity of Korean food can be seen in the growing number of Korean restaurants, food trucks, and food festivals in major cities around the world. Korean dishes such as kimchi, bulgogi, bibimbap, and Korean fried chicken have become more widely available and are increasingly featured on the menus of non-Korean restaurants as well. In addition, there has been a rise in the popularity of Korean cooking shows, food blogs, and social media accounts dedicated to Korean food, showcasing the diverse range of dishes and techniques that make Korean cuisine unique. In fact, in 2021 Korean food exports reached an all-time high of more than 14% signifying its popularity outside the nation and a rise in soft power.

One of the main reasons for the growing popularity of Korean food is its perceived health benefits. Korean cuisine is known for its use of fresh and fermented ingredients, which are believed to be good for gut health and overall well-being. In addition, many Korean dishes are low in fat and calories and high in protein and fiber, making them a popular choice among health-conscious consumers.

Another reason for the rise in popularity of Korean food is its unique and complex flavors. Korean cuisine is characterized by a mix of sweet, savory, and spicy flavors, often in the same dish. The use of fermented ingredients such as soy sauce, gochujang, and doenjang gives Korean food a distinct umami flavor that is hard to replicate in other cuisines.

The increasing popularity of Korean food is also good news for South Korea’s economy. The country’s food industry has been actively promoting Korean cuisine through various initiatives such as the Korean Food Globalization Committee, which was established to expand the reach of Korean food to international markets. The Korean government has also been providing support to Korean restaurants abroad through various programs and incentives.

In addition to promoting Korean food overseas, the growing popularity of Korean food has also led to an increase in tourism to South Korea. Many tourists come to South Korea specifically to try Korean food and learn about its culture and history. This has led to a boost in the country’s tourism industry and an increase in revenue for Korean restaurants and food producers.

The rise in popularity of Korean food is a reflection of the unique flavors and health benefits of Korean cuisine, as well as the efforts of the Korean government and food industry to promote it to a wider audience. As more people around the world discover the joys of Korean food, we can expect its popularity to continue to grow in the years to come.

Let’s explore five flavoured kinds of vinegar, you can make at home with just a few simple ingredients.

Balsamic Vinegar with Fresh Berries

Balsamic vinegar is a classic vinegar with a rich, sweet-tart flavour that pairs well with many foods. To make a flavoured balsamic vinegar, start by adding fresh berries, such as raspberries or strawberries, to a bottle of balsamic vinegar. Let the vinegar infuse for a few days to a week, then strain out the berries and enjoy. This fruity balsamic vinegar is great in salad dressings, drizzled over grilled meat or vegetables, or added to sauces.

Apple Cider Vinegar with Cinnamon

Apple cider vinegar is a tangy vinegar with a slightly fruity flavour that’s perfect for adding acidity to dishes. To make a flavoured apple cider vinegar, add a cinnamon stick to a bottle of apple cider vinegar and let it infuse for a few days to a week. The cinnamon adds a warm, spicy flavour to the vinegar, making it a great addition to marinades or glazes for pork or chicken.

White Wine Vinegar with Garlic and Herbs

White wine vinegar is a mild, acidic vinegar that’s great for pickling and preserving. To make a flavoured white wine vinegar, add a few cloves of peeled garlic and some fresh herbs, such as rosemary or thyme, to a bottle of white wine vinegar. Let the vinegar infuse for a few days to a week, then strain out the garlic and herbs. This garlic and herb white wine vinegar is perfect for making vinaigrettes for salads or for pickling vegetables.

Rice Vinegar with Ginger and Scallions

Rice vinegar is a mild, slightly sweet vinegar that’s commonly used in Asian cuisine. To make flavoured rice vinegar, add some sliced fresh ginger and chopped scallions to a bottle of rice vinegar. Flavoured vinegar is a great way to add depth and complexity to your dishes, from salads to marinades to sauces. Here are three ways you can use flavoured vinegar in your cooking:

Salad Dressings

Flavoured vinegar is perfect for making homemade salad dressings. A simple vinaigrette can be made by whisking together flavoured vinegar, olive oil, salt, and pepper. For example, raspberry balsamic vinegar would make a great base for a fruity salad dressing, while a garlic and herb white wine vinegar would add a savoury note to a green salad. Experiment with different combinations of flavoured vinegar, oils, and seasonings to create your own unique salad dressings.

Marinades

Flavoured vinegar can also be used as a base for marinades for meats, poultry, and fish. The acidity in the vinegar helps to tenderize the meat and infuse it with flavour. For example, ginger and scallion rice vinegar would make a great marinade for stir-fried beef, while a rosemary and lemon red wine vinegar would add a bold flavour to grilled chicken. Simply combine the flavoured vinegar with oil and other seasonings, such as garlic or honey, and marinate the meat for several hours before cooking.

Sauces

Flavoured vinegar can also be used to add depth and flavour to sauces. For example, a balsamic reduction made with fruity balsamic vinegar can be drizzled over roasted vegetables or used as a glaze for grilled meats. A garlic and herb white wine vinegar can be used to deglaze a pan and create a quick and easy pan sauce for chicken or fish. Experiment with different combinations of flavoured vinegar and other ingredients, such as honey or mustard, to create your own signature sauces.

Making your own flavoured vinegar is an easy and fun way to add a personal touch to your cooking. Whether you’re making fruity balsamic vinegar or herby red wine vinegar, these homemade vinegar are sure to elevate your dishes and impress your guests. So why not try making some flavoured vinegar at home today?
