Zomato and SUN Mobility team up to launch 50K electric delivery fleet

0
zomato

SUN Mobility was established with the goal of revolutionizing the electric mobility sector in India by providing energy infrastructure solutions for electric vehicles. The company aims to address the major concerns of EV adoption, such as range anxiety, long charging times, and high upfront costs.

To achieve this, SUN Mobility has developed a unique battery swapping technology that enables EV users to swap their depleted batteries with fully charged ones at Swap Points. This process takes only a few minutes, and the fully charged battery provides a range equivalent to a full tank of petrol.

Anant Badjatya, CEO, SUN Mobility, said,”By deploying 50,000 electric two-wheelers in Zomato’s fleet, we are reducing our carbon footprint by 5,000 MT/month and contributing to a cleaner environment.”

Mohit Sardana, COO-Food Delivery at Zomato, said,”Our associations in the past and now with SUN Mobility to swap batteries will accelerate the transition to EV-based deliveries, further helping us keep our promise of a sustainable Zomato.”

SUN Mobility’s battery swapping technology is designed to be compatible with a wide range of EVs, including 2-wheelers, 3-wheelers, and cars. The company partners with OEMs, fleet operators, and other stakeholders to provide end-to-end solutions for EV charging infrastructure.

The collaboration with Zomato is a significant milestone for SUN Mobility, as it demonstrates the growing demand for EVs in the last-mile delivery segment. With the rise of e-commerce and online food delivery platforms, last-mile delivery has become a critical component of the logistics industry. Electric 2-wheelers offer a cost-effective and environmentally friendly solution for this segment.

Zomato, which operates in over 500 cities in India, has set a target of using only electric vehicles for its delivery fleet by 2030. The collaboration with SUN Mobility will enable Zomato to accelerate its transition to electric vehicles and contribute to India’s ambitious target of achieving 30% electric mobility by 2030.

SUN Mobility’s collaboration with Zomato is a significant step towards promoting sustainable mobility in India. By providing innovative solutions for EV charging infrastructure, SUN Mobility is helping to create an ecosystem for electric vehicles that is convenient, affordable, and accessible to all.

Boost your brainpower: How a vegan diet can enhance cognitive health

0

The brain is the body’s control center and is responsible for coordinating all bodily functions. It is composed of about 100 billion neurons that communicate with each other through chemical and electrical signals. The brain requires a constant supply of energy to function correctly, and the nutrients we consume play a crucial role in this process.

The brain’s energy needs are met by glucose, which is derived from carbohydrates. The brain also requires fats and proteins to function correctly. Fats provide insulation for the neurons, while proteins are used to build and repair brain cells.

The nutrients we consume can also affect cognitive function. A vegan diet can be an excellent source of nutrients that are essential for cognitive health. A vegan diet is a dietary approach that eliminates animal products such as meat, dairy, and eggs. It has gained popularity in recent years due to its numerous health benefits, including reducing the risk of chronic diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, and cancer.

Here are some ways in which a vegan diet can enhance cognitive health:

Rich in antioxidants: Antioxidants are compounds that protect the body against oxidative stress. Oxidative stress is a condition that occurs when there is an imbalance between free radicals and antioxidants in the body. Free radicals are molecules that can damage cells and tissues, leading to inflammation and chronic diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease.

A vegan diet is rich in antioxidants, which can help to protect the brain against oxidative stress. Plant-based foods such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and legumes are excellent sources of antioxidants such as vitamin C, vitamin E, and beta-carotene. These antioxidants can help to reduce inflammation and protect the brain against oxidative stress.

High in Omega-3 fatty acids: Omega-3 fatty acids are essential fats that play a crucial role in brain function. They are involved in the production of neurotransmitters, which are chemical messengers that transmit signals between neurons. Omega-3 fatty acids are also involved in the development and maintenance of brain cells.

A vegan diet can be an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids. Plant-based sources of omega-3 fatty acids include chia seeds, flaxseeds, hemp seeds, and walnuts. These foods are rich in alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), a type of omega-3 fatty acid that can be converted into the more active forms, eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), in the body.

While the conversion of ALA to EPA and DHA is not very efficient, studies have shown that a vegan diet rich in ALA can still provide cognitive benefits. For example, a study published in the Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease found that a vegan diet rich in ALA improved cognitive function in older adults.

Low in saturated fat: A vegan diet is naturally low in saturated fat, which can be beneficial for cognitive health. Saturated fat has been linked to an increased risk of cognitive decline and dementia. A study published in the journal Neurology found that individuals who consumed a diet high in saturated fat had a higher risk of cognitive impairment and dementia.

A vegan diet is naturally low in saturated fat as it eliminates animal products such as meat, dairy, and eggs, which are high in saturated fat. Instead, it focuses on plant-based foods such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and legumes, which are low in saturated fat and high in fiber and other nutrients.

High in fiber: Fiber is an essential nutrient that plays a vital role in maintaining gut health. A healthy gut is essential for optimal brain function as the gut and brain are interconnected through the gut-brain axis. The gut-brain axis is a bidirectional communication system that allows the brain to communicate with the gut and vice versa.

A vegan diet is high in fiber, which can help to promote gut health and improve cognitive function. Fiber-rich foods such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and legumes can help to feed the gut microbiome, which plays a crucial role in maintaining gut health.

Studies have also shown that a healthy gut microbiome is associated with improved cognitive function. For example, a study published in the journal Frontiers in Aging Neuroscience found that individuals with a healthier gut microbiome had better cognitive performance.

Rich in B Vitamins: B vitamins are essential for cognitive health as they play a crucial role in brain function. Vitamin B12, in particular, is essential for maintaining nerve function and is involved in the production of neurotransmitters. Vitamin B6 and folate are also important for cognitive health as they are involved in the production of neurotransmitters.

A vegan diet can be an excellent source of B vitamins. Nutritional yeast is a particularly rich source of vitamin B12 and can be used as a substitute for cheese in vegan dishes. Whole grains, legumes, and leafy green vegetables are also good sources of B vitamins.

Low in toxins: Animal products such as meat and dairy can contain toxins such as heavy metals and antibiotics. These toxins can have a negative impact on cognitive health, particularly in children. A study published in the journal Environmental Health Perspectives found that exposure to heavy metals such as lead and mercury was associated with lower IQ scores in children.

A vegan diet eliminates animal products, which can help to reduce exposure to these toxins. Plant-based foods are generally lower in toxins than animal products, making a vegan diet a healthier option for cognitive health.

A vegan diet can enhance cognitive health in numerous ways. However, it is important to note that a vegan diet, like any other diet, must be well-planned to ensure that all essential nutrients are consumed. Vegans must ensure that they consume adequate amounts of protein, vitamin B12, iron, calcium, and other essential nutrients.

Overall, a well-planned vegan diet can be an excellent choice for those looking to enhance their cognitive health.

How turmeric can improve brain health in Alzheimer’s patients

Significance of turmeric cannot be narrowed down to just being a spice in our everyday Indian kitchen as it is no less than a superfood! Be it beauty and self care or as an ayurvedic medicine, turmeric is the go to solution to all of this. According to Ayurvedic principles, turmeric is considered a warming and drying herb that can help balance the doshas, or energies, within the body.

Not only that but it is also effective in treatment of a variety of health conditions, including digestive disorders, skin issues, respiratory problems, and joint pain. It is believed to have a number of therapeutic properties, including anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antimicrobial effects. It is also known for its ability to support digestion as ‘turmeric-milk’ is the golden goodness which is an ultimate go-to medicine for all desi moms out there.

But did you know that turmeric is so powerful that it can actually help in curing of Alzhiemers’ disease

Yeah, you read that right as one of the most promising benefits of turmeric is its potential to help with Alzheimer’s disease, a progressive brain disorder that affects memory, thinking, and behavior, so let’s explore the science behind it:

Alzheimer’s disease is characterized by the buildup of a protein called beta-amyloid in the brain, which leads to the formation of plaques that disrupt communication between brain cells. This results in the gradual loss of cognitive function and memory. While there is no cure for Alzheimer’s, researchers are actively studying potential treatments and prevention strategies.

Turmeric contains a compound called curcumin, which has powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Studies have shown that curcumin can help reduce the accumulation of beta-amyloid in the brain and may even help break down existing plaques. In addition, curcumin can help reduce inflammation in the brain, which is thought to contribute to the progression of Alzheimer’s.

One study published in the Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease found that a daily dose of curcumin improved memory and attention in people with mild age-related memory loss. Another study published in the Journal of Psychopharmacology found that curcumin supplementation improved mood and cognitive function in healthy older adults.

While more research is needed to fully understand the potential benefits of turmeric for Alzheimer’s disease, the evidence is promising. Turmeric is generally considered safe when consumed in moderate amounts, although high doses may cause gastrointestinal side effects. It’s important to speak with your healthcare provider before taking turmeric supplements or making significant changes to your diet.

Incorporating turmeric into your diet can be as simple as adding it to your favorite dishes, such as curries, soups, or roasted vegetables. You can also try making turmeric tea or golden milk, a popular drink made with turmeric, milk, and other spices.

Turmeric may offer a natural and safe way to help reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s disease and improve cognitive function in those with the condition. Its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, along with its ability to reduce beta-amyloid buildup in the brain, make it a promising area of study for researchers and a potential natural remedy for individuals looking to protect their brain health.
