A man unfortunately paid INR 66000 for a Veg Burger and Chips; Still waiting for refund after 30 days

0

In today’s fast-paced world, technology has made life easier in many ways, but it has also brought with it new dangers. One of these dangers is the ease with which a person’s finances can be compromised.

This became a reality for Toby Wilson of Manchester, England when he woke up one morning to find that a significant portion of his bank balance had been spent on a single purchase. This purchase, however, was not made by him. It was an unfortunate mistake that could happen to anyone, but for Toby, the stakes were higher.

Toby, who is 35 years old, had gone out with his friends in York for a night of fun. On his way back home, he stopped at a food truck named Efe’s Kebab Kitchen and ordered a veggie burger and chips for dinner. He had no reason to suspect that this seemingly innocuous purchase would cause him any trouble. However, when he checked his bank balance days later, he found that the burger and chips had been charged to his account at an exorbitant rate of £666.50, which is equivalent to a little over INR 66,000.

The shock of this discovery was compounded by the fact that Toby is a non-drinker and had not consumed any alcohol on the night in question. He told Ladbible, “Maybe it would be different if someone was drunk and just stumbled into to get a kebab and got it all wrong. But that’s very much not the case.”

Credit: SWNS

He immediately reached out to one of his friends who had been with him on the night in question and asked him to visit the Kebab Kitchen to inform them about the mistake.

The HR of the food outlet, Ahmed Abdullah, advised Toby to speak to his bank to resolve the issue. Toby was confident that this would be a simple process and that the bank would quickly rectify the mistake. However, he soon learned that it was not as straightforward as he had hoped. The bank reportedly required him to produce a receipt of the transaction, but as is often the case with such purchases, he did not have any.

He told Ladbible, “No one has a receipt for things like that. I have a mortgage and bills to pay. It is just very worrying. The point is the money is mine, and it’s a significant amount.”

The business owner of the Kebab Kitchen, Efe, insisted that they had asked Toby to contact his bank only for safety reasons and that it was their legal way of handling things. Toby, who has worked in the hospitality industry, believes that Efe’s Kebab Kitchen would be able to prove the payment if they just looked into their account.

Toby’s experience serves as a cautionary tale for everyone. It is a reminder to always keep an eye on our bank balances and to be vigilant about the purchases we make. With technology making it easier for fraudsters to access our finances, we must take all necessary steps to protect ourselves. Whether it is keeping receipts or regularly checking our accounts, we must all do our part to safeguard our hard-earned money.

Maggi Price Hike

Nestle, the FMCG Giant, is set to raise the prices of its products once again in order to offset the increasing production costs. CEO Mark Schneider revealed that the increases will not be as steep as they were in 2022, but the company has some catching up to do over the course of the year.

In the first nine months of 2022, the company reported organic sales growth of 8.5%, with 7.5 percentage points being accounted for by price rises. This decision comes amidst a backdrop of high inflation in many developed economies, driven largely by increases in food and energy prices.

Nestle houses popular brands such as Maggi, Nescafe and KitKat. It has big plans for the Indian market, which is one of its top 10 markets globally.

The company has announced that it plans to invest a massive INR 5,000 crore in India by 2025, which will help the company to accelerate its core business in the country and take advantage of new opportunities for growth.

Nestle CEO Ulf Mark Schneider

Ulf Mark Schneider, CEO of Nestle, said, “When you look into the investment in this country and the investment plan through 2025, we are talking about INR 5,000 crore and that compares to INR 8,000 crore over the last 60 years when we started manufacturing in this country.”

Currently, Nestle operates 9 plants across India and is looking at new locations to setup new additional manufacturing capacity.

Do vegan supplements work similarly to regular supplements? Top 5 supplements you should include in your diet.

0

Vegan supplements are designed to provide essential nutrients to people who follow a vegan diet, which typically excludes meat, dairy products, and other animal-derived ingredients. Many people wonder if vegan supplements are as effective as regular supplements in providing the nutrients that the body needs.

In general, vegan supplements can be just as effective as regular supplements, provided that they contain the right ingredients and are manufactured and tested to meet high standards of quality and purity. However, there are some differences to be aware of, as well as some important considerations when choosing a vegan supplement.

In this blog, we’ll take a look at five of the most important vegan supplements and whether or not they can be as effective as their non-vegan counterparts.

Vitamin B12: Vitamin B12 is a nutrient that is essential for healthy nerve function and the production of red blood cells. It is only found in animal products, so vegans are at risk of deficiency unless they supplement. Vegan supplements that provide Vitamin B12 are typically just as effective as regular Vitamin B12 supplements, provided that they contain a form of Vitamin B12 that is easily absorbed and utilized by the body, such as methylcobalamin or adenosylcobalamin.

Vitamin D: Vitamin D is a nutrient that is important for healthy bones, as well as the proper functioning of the immune system. Although it can be obtained from exposure to sunlight, it is also found in animal products, so vegans may need to supplement to ensure they get enough. Vegan Vitamin D supplements that provide D2 (ergocalciferol) are as effective as regular Vitamin D supplements, although Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) is more easily utilized by the body. Vegan Vitamin D3 supplements made from lichen (a type of plant) are now available and can be just as effective as regular Vitamin D3 supplements.

Omega-3 fatty acids: Omega-3 fatty acids are essential fatty acids that are important for heart health and overall well-being. They are found in high levels in fish and other seafood, but can also be obtained from plant sources such as flaxseeds, chia seeds, and algae. Vegan Omega-3 supplements made from algae are as effective as regular Omega-3 supplements made from fish oil and are a good choice for vegans who want to ensure they get enough of these important fatty acids.

Iron: Iron is a mineral that is essential for the production of hemoglobin, which is needed to transport oxygen in the blood. Vegan diets can be low in iron, so vegans may need to supplement to ensure they get enough. Vegan iron supplements can be just as effective as regular iron supplements, provided that they contain a form of iron that is easily absorbed and utilized by the body, such as ferrous bis-glycinate.

Calcium: Calcium is a mineral that is important for healthy bones and teeth, as well as the proper functioning of muscles and the nervous system. Vegan diets can be low in calcium, so vegans may need to supplement to ensure they get enough. Vegan calcium supplements can be just as effective as regular calcium supplements, provided that they contain a form of calcium that is easily absorbed and utilized by the body, such as calcium citrate.

In conclusion, vegan supplements can be just as effective as regular supplements, provided that they contain the right ingredients and are manufactured and tested to meet high standards of quality and purity. It is important for vegans to ensure that they get enough of essential nutrients such as Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Omega-3 fatty acids, iron, and calcium and that they choose vegan supplements that are designed to meet their specific needs.

Caution: Supplements should be taken with due consideration by your health care provider. Do not consume without your Doctor’s guidance.

These 10 foods can help against memory loss of your Parents.

0

As we age, the brain undergoes structural changes that can affect memory. For example, the brain’s nerve cells and connections may shrink or deteriorate, which can slow down processing speed and impair memory recall. Additionally, a decline in hormones and neurotransmitters can affect the brain’s ability to store and retrieve information. This causes Memory loss is a common concern among older adults. It can be due to several causes, including age-related changes, medical conditions, or lifestyle factors.

In this blog, we’ll discuss the most common issues and causes of memory loss in elderly people and what foods one can take to overcome this growing problem.

Medical Conditions: Certain medical conditions can also lead to memory loss in older adults. These include stroke, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, depression, and other forms of dementia. These conditions can cause brain damage and affect memory by interfering with communication between brain cells.

Lifestyle Factors: A sedentary lifestyle, poor nutrition, and limited social interaction can also contribute to memory loss in older adults. For example, a lack of physical activity can decrease the flow of oxygen and nutrients to the brain, which can impair memory and cognitive function. In addition, a diet lacking essential nutrients can reduce the production of neurotransmitters that support memory.

Reducing the Impact of Memory Loss: While some degree of memory loss is normal with aging, there are several strategies that can help reduce its impact. These include:

Staying physically active: Regular exercise can improve circulation and increase the flow of oxygen and nutrients to the brain, which can help preserve memory.

Eating a healthy diet: A diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and healthy fats can provide the nutrients needed to support brain health.

Staying mentally active: Engaging in mentally stimulating activities, such as reading, playing games, or solving puzzles, can help preserve cognitive function.

Staying socially engaged: Maintaining strong social connections and participating in community activities can help reduce feelings of loneliness and depression, which can contribute to memory loss.

Managing medical conditions: Regular medical check-ups can help identify and manage underlying medical conditions that may be affecting memory.

Having a cognitive issue can make daily life more difficult, but there are many foods that have been shown to have beneficial effects on the brain and memory.

Here are 10 foods that can help improve memory in older adults.

Blueberries: Blueberries are rich in antioxidants and have been shown to improve memory and cognitive function in older adults. They are also high in Vitamin C, which has been linked to improved brain function.

Nuts and seeds: Nuts and seeds, such as almonds, walnuts, and flaxseeds, are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which are essential for brain health. They also contain antioxidants and other nutrients that can improve memory and cognitive function.

Fish: Fish, such as salmon, sardines, and tuna, are high in omega-3 fatty acids and can help improve memory and cognitive function. The omega-3s in fish are believed to reduce inflammation in the brain, which can lead to memory loss and other cognitive problems.

Leafy greens: Leafy greens, such as spinach, kale, and collard greens, are high in Vitamin K, which has been shown to improve memory and cognitive function. They also contain antioxidants and other nutrients that can help protect the brain.

Dark chocolate: Dark chocolate is high in antioxidants, which can help protect the brain and improve memory. It also contains caffeine and theobromine, two compounds that can enhance brain function.

Turmeric: Turmeric is a spice that has been shown to improve memory and cognitive function. It contains curcumin, a powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory compound, that can help protect the brain from damage and improve memory.

Berries: Berries, such as strawberries, raspberries, and blackberries, are rich in antioxidants and can improve memory and cognitive function. They are also high in Vitamin C, which can help protect the brain from damage.

Whole grains: Whole grains, such as brown rice, quinoa, and whole wheat, are high in fiber and can help improve memory and cognitive function. They also contain antioxidants and other nutrients that can help protect the brain.

Avocados: Avocados are high in healthy fats and are a good source of monounsaturated fatty acids, which can improve memory and cognitive function. They also contain antioxidants and other nutrients that can help protect the brain.

Tomatoes: Tomatoes are high in lycopene, a powerful antioxidant that can improve memory and cognitive function. They are also a good source of Vitamin C and other nutrients that can help protect the brain from damage.

These ten foods can help improve memory and cognitive function in older adults. Incorporating them into a healthy diet can help support brain health and reduce the risk of memory loss and other cognitive problems. However, it is important to remember that a balanced diet and regular exercise are also essential for maintaining brain health. So, make sure to include a variety of healthy foods in your diet and stay physically active to support your overall health and well-being.

Do not commit these mistakes, while mixing your Cocktails

0
cocktails

Mixing cocktails is a fun and creative activity, but it can also be a source of frustration if things don’t turn out as expected. To help you avoid common mistakes, here are ten tips to keep in mind when mixing cocktails.

Not measuring ingredients accurately:

A major mistake is not measuring ingredients accurately. Most cocktails rely on a specific ratio of ingredients, and even a small deviation can drastically change the taste and balance of the drink. To ensure consistent results, invest in a set of bar measures and use them every time you mix drinks.

Using low-quality ingredients:

Cocktails are only as good as the ingredients you use, so always opt for high-quality spirits, mixers, and garnishes. Avoid using cheap, artificial mixers and juices, as they can harm the overall taste of the drink.

Ignoring the order of ingredients:

The order in which you add ingredients can greatly impact the taste and texture of a cocktail. For example, if you add ice after a thick syrup, it will float on top and be difficult to incorporate. Make sure to follow the recipe or method you are using carefully.

Not shaking or stirring enough:

A common mistake is not shaking or stirring the cocktail enough. This can result in an inconsistent mix, with some ingredients floating on top and others sinking to the bottom. Be sure to shake or stir with enough force to ensure a thorough and consistent mix.

Over-stirring or shaking:

On the other hand, over-stirring or shaking can also lead to problems. Over-stirring can dilute the drink, making it too weak, while over-shaking can cause the ice to break down and create a slushy texture. Follow the recipe and stop shaking or stirring as soon as the ingredients are fully combined.

Not chilling ingredients before mixing:

Another common mistake is not chilling ingredients before mixing. When ingredients are at room temperature, they can dilute the drink and create an unbalanced taste. To avoid this, chill all ingredients in the refrigerator or freezer before mixing.

Using too much or too little ice:

Ice plays a crucial role in the texture and balance of a cocktail, so it’s important to use the right amount. Too much ice can water down the drink, while too little ice can make it too strong. Follow the recipe or use a jigger to measure the right amount of ice for each drink.

Not garnishing correctly:

A well-placed garnish can make all the difference in the look and flavor of a cocktail. Make sure to use the right type of garnish for each drink and place it in the correct position for optimal visual appeal and flavor balance.

Not cleaning equipment properly:

Cleaning your equipment is crucial for making great cocktails. If you’re using a dirty shaker, for example, the flavors from previous drinks will mix with the current one, ruining the taste. Always wash and dry your equipment thoroughly before using it.

Not practicing:

Finally, the most important mistake to avoid is not practicing. Mixing cocktails is a skill that takes time and practice to perfect. Don’t be afraid to experiment with different ingredients and techniques, and always be willing to learn and improve your skills.

In conclusion, by avoiding these common mistakes, you’ll be able to mix great cocktails that are balanced, flavorful, and visually appealing. Remember to measure ingredients accurately, use high-quality ingredients, follow recipes and methods carefully, chill ingredients before mixing, use the right amount of ice, garnish correctly, clean equipment thoroughly, and practice regularly. With these tips in mind, you’ll be able to make
