Salud, a renowned lifestyle beverage brand, has recently unveiled its latest addition to its gin collection, marking another significant step in the company’s ongoing journey of product diversification and market expansion. Ajay Shetty, the esteemed CEO of Salud, has outlined an ambitious roadmap for the future, highlighting their strategic objective of establishing a robust presence in 12–18 states nationwide. Furthermore, they aspire to embark on exciting ventures into four untapped international markets within the next 2-3 years.

Presently, Salud distributes its products to three international markets and has successfully established its presence in five states within the country.

Salud specializes in the spirit-based ready-to-drink (RTD) category, offering a range of six SKUs in this segment. Furthermore, the brand plans to introduce three additional SKUs later this year. Additionally, Salud will venture into producing small-batch pure spirit products.

In light of the growing demand for convenient and high-quality alcoholic beverages in the Indian market, Salud has recently revealed a $1.5 million investment to support its expansion initiatives. Currently, the company runs a bottling facility in Goa, boasting a capacity of 3.5-4 million liters. This facility primarily focuses on the production of Ready-to-Drink (RTD) beverages, aiming to meet the market’s needs effectively.

Shetty disclosed that Salud is eagerly pursuing expansion and has concrete plans to establish a manufacturing plant in Goa, which will be wholly owned by the company.

“This endeavour will necessitate additional funds. In the next three months, we aim to raise additional funds, targeting an amount twice the sum it had previously raised,” he added.

To date, the company has successfully secured approximately $2 million in funding from various investors, such as Anthill Ventures and several high-net-worth individuals.

Regarding the company’s newest product offering, the CEO stated that the beverage would be produced in the United Kingdom through a collaboration with a local distillery called Spirit of Manchester. This boutique distillery, located in Manchester City, will join forces with the company as part of a joint venture. Emphasizing the company’s commitment to its ready-to-drink segment, which appeals to a wide range of consumers, the CEO mentioned that occasional releases of pure spirit-based products would be introduced in small, limited batches.

The exclusive series of 600 bottles of Salud Cusp London Dry Gin will have its initial release in Goa, followed by Karnataka. This alcoholic beverage boasts a 42 percent alcohol by volume (ABV) and will be offered in a 700 ml volume. In Goa, it will be priced at INR 3450, while in Bengaluru, it will be available for INR 4950.

Presently, the export operations are primarily targeting the Middle East, with a particular emphasis on the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Shetty mentioned that they currently have 11 market deals established in the UAE and are in the final stages of negotiating terms for three additional deals in Southeast Asia.

Since its establishment in 2020, the company has reported a turnover of approximately $1-1.5 million in the fiscal year 2023. Currently, their products are accessible in approximately 1,800 retail outlets spanning across 3-4 states. According to the company, the ready-to-drink (RTD) alcohol market in the country is expected to experience significant growth, with a projected compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 11.2% from 2022 to 2030.

Pizza chains Domino’s and Pizza Hut, along with the fried chicken chain KFC, have been identified as the top three Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) chains in India based on store count, as revealed by a survey conducted by GapMaps, a cloud-based data intelligence platform. These well-known establishments have successfully expanded their presence throughout the country, solidifying their positions as leaders in the QSR industry.

According to the latest Fast Food & Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) Retail Network Report in India for 2023, Domino’s has secured the top spot with its impressive store network. With over 1,500 locations spread across India, Domino’s outshines its competitors. What sets Domino’s apart is its widespread presence in the country, as it manages to have at least one store in nearly all of the 86 cities with a population exceeding one million residents. Additionally, Domino’s has made its mark in 211 cities with a population of over 500,000 residents, further solidifying its dominance in the Indian market.

In the QSR segment, Pizza Hut closely follows Domino’s with a strong presence at 787 locations throughout India. This impressive number of outlets positions Pizza Hut as the second-largest store network in the country, showcasing its competitive standing in the market.

Following closely behind Pizza Hut, the fried chicken chain KFC secures its position on the list with an impressive presence at 769 locations across India. This substantial number of outlets establishes KFC as a prominent player in the QSR segment, further contributing to the brand’s popularity and reach in the Indian market.

The comprehensive report monitors and analyzes the store counts and market penetration of 13 prominent QSR and fast food brands across a vast network of 6,000 locations throughout India. This extensive coverage provides valuable insights into the market presence and reach of these brands, offering a comprehensive overview of the QSR industry in the country.

Other notable brands, such as Wow! Momo and McDonald’s, also boast significant store networks, with each brand maintaining a presence at more than 500 locations.

With the exception of Domino’s, the report reveals that the brands under observation lack established store networks in tier 2 cities, which include cities with populations ranging from 500,000 to 1 million residents.

In cities with less than 5 lakh residents, the store networks of the tracked brands are relatively limited. Typically, these smaller cities only have stores present if there is an additional significant driver of sales beyond the local residents, such as a major passing highway, a tourist precinct, or a satellite/commuter city.

Raptee propels the future of electric motorcycles with grand opening of its first manufacturing plant in Chennai

Raptee, a premium electric motorcycle startup, has recently unveiled its maiden manufacturing factory in Chennai. This state-of-the-art facility, spanning across 3 acres, will be dedicated to the production of their highly anticipated EV motorcycles, set to hit the market later this year. Additionally, the campus will house the majority of Raptee’s skilled Research and Development team, fostering seamless collaboration and innovation within the company.

Raptee intends to make an investment of INR 85 crore in a new plant with an annual capacity of 1 Lakh units. This facility will serve as Raptee’s main production plant for the next 24 months. The company aims to hire 470 individuals to handle manufacturing and drive further design innovation in their highly anticipated motorcycles. The plant will feature a cutting-edge research and development center with advanced development and testing facilities to support future product development. Additionally, the manufacturing plant will include a specialized battery pack assembly line.

Speaking about the newly setup plant, Dinesh Arjun, Co-Founder CEO, Raptee, said “This is a huge leap forward for us. We are at an inflection point where we move from a small R&D outfit to becoming a full blown OEM and we’ve identified the perfect property to maintain the balance for the years to come. The concept of Raptee was born in 2019 with the sole intention of democratizing electric mobility in India. Looking back, it wasn’t known how things would pan out at that time, but the founders had a clear vision of making a difference. This grant was received as part of the Advance Mobility Transformation & Innovation Foundation’s (AMTIF) Industry Accelerator program, which falls under the Capital Goods Scheme initiated by the Ministry of Heavy Industries, Government of India.
