In an effort to streamline the food ordering process and capture a larger market share, Zomato, the popular food app, has unveiled a new feature that allows users to place orders from multiple restaurants simultaneously.

This strategic move comes at a time when the food delivery industry is experiencing a slowdown, prompting Zomato to explore innovative solutions to attract and retain customers. Drawing inspiration from Pincode, an app owned by PhonePe, Zomato aims to leverage the success of a similar feature to enhance user convenience and increase sales.

With the latest update to the Zomato app, users now can create up to four separate carts, each containing items from different restaurants. This feature enables users to curate their orders from various eateries of their choice, ensuring a diverse and customized culinary experience. Once an order is placed from one cart, users can seamlessly return to the remaining carts and continue adding items, mimicking the functionality offered by Pincode in the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC).

During the launch of Pincode, PhonePe CEO Sameer Nigam emphasized the significance of the multi-cart feature, noting its ability to elevate the shopping experience and drive increased sales.

Zomato, taking note of the success of this feature, aims to leverage it to not only simplify the ordering process but also to empower users to make more informed purchase decisions. By offering greater flexibility and convenience, Zomato envisions attracting a larger customer base and gaining a competitive edge in the market.

A spokesperson from Zomato highlighted the company’s commitment to innovation and improving the overall customer experience. “At Zomato, we strive to constantly innovate and evolve to provide a superior customer experience. With this new feature, customers can effortlessly create multiple carts without the need to navigate back and forth across different menus,” the spokesperson informed Moneycontrol.

As Zomato continues to explore avenues for growth and customer satisfaction, the introduction of the multi-cart feature demonstrates the company’s proactive approach to meeting the evolving needs and preferences of its users. By embracing technology-driven solutions, Zomato aims to solidify its position as a leading player in the food delivery industry, offering seamless and personalized experiences that enhance the joy of ordering food from the comfort of one’s home.

0
rice and roti together

Are you an adventurous foodie who loves to push culinary boundaries? If you’ve ever pondered the consequences of merging the dynamic duo of rice and roti in one meal, prepare to unveil the answers! Get ready for a thrilling flavor expedition as we venture into the realm of excessive carbs. However, fellow gastronomic explorers, be cautious, as this fusion feast may carry potential drawbacks that will make you question the compatibility of this legendary combination. So, grab a plate and embark on this exciting gastronomic journey as we delve into the captivating realm of rice and roti fusion!

In Indian cuisine, it is customary to enjoy the delightful pairing of roti, an Indian bread, and rice in a single meal. This union not only gratifies the senses but also imparts a sense of fulfillment. However, for those seeking weight loss, reducing the quantity of rice and rotis consumed is often advised. This article explores the nutritional value, combination effects, and other considerations of this culinary tradition.

Nutritional Value of Rice and Roti

Both roti and rice hold significant nutritional value and serve as important sources of energy in Indian cuisine. Roti, made from whole wheat flour, is rich in dietary fiber, providing a feeling of fullness and aiding in digestion. It also contains essential nutrients such as carbohydrates, proteins, and a variety of vitamins and minerals like iron, B vitamins, and magnesium.

On the other hand, rice, a staple grain, offers a good source of energy due to its high carbohydrate content. Depending on the variety, rice can also contain varying amounts of vitamins and minerals. While both roti and rice contribute to a balanced diet, it is essential to consider portion sizes and overall dietary needs for optimal health and weight management.

Combination of Rice and Roti

  • Tummy Troubles: Combining a carb bonanza from roti and rice might put your digestive system in a bit of a frenzy. Your body will be working overtime to process all those carbs, leading to bloating, gas, and a grumbling tummy that might rival the rumble of a distant thunderstorm.
  • Unwanted Pounds: If you go overboard with this delightful carb combo, be prepared for some unexpected guests on your waistline – extra pounds! Both roti and rice are deliciously carb-loaded, and consuming too much can tip the scales in favor of weight gain. So, watch out for the sneaky carbs hiding in your plate.
  • Nutrient Nonsense: While roti and rice do have their nutritional merits, relying solely on this power duo might leave you missing out on a whole spectrum of essential nutrients. Think of it like skipping the vibrant colors of a rainbow and settling for a monochromatic diet. So, spice up your plate with a variety of nutrient-packed foods to keep your body singing with joy.
  • Sugar Rollercoaster: Combining roti and rice can lead to a wild ride on the blood sugar rollercoaster. It’s like taking your taste buds on a thrilling adventure, but it can be a bit bumpy for those with diabetes or trying to keep their blood sugar levels steady. So, if you’re riding that rollercoaster, be mindful of the potential ups and downs.

In a nutshell, don’t let these side effects scare you away from enjoying the delightful duo of roti and rice. Just remember to keep the portion sizes in check, balance your plate with other nutritious goodies, and enjoy this culinary journey without letting the side effects rain on your food parade.

Correct Way To Get Maximum Out of Rice and Roti

The right way to eat roti and rice is subjective and can vary depending on personal preferences, cultural practices, and dietary goals. Here are a few general guidelines to consider:

  • Portion Control: Pay attention to portion sizes. It’s important to strike a balance between the amount of roti and rice you consume to avoid excessive carbohydrate intake. Consider the energy needs of your body and adjust the portions accordingly.
  • Include Nutrient-Dense Accompaniments: Instead of solely relying on roti and rice, complement your meal with a variety of nutrient-rich foods. Include a colorful assortment of vegetables, legumes, lean proteins, and healthy fats to create a well-rounded and balanced plate.
  • Mindful Eating: Practice mindful eating by savoring each bite and paying attention to your body’s hunger and fullness cues. Eat slowly, chew your food thoroughly, and enjoy the flavors and textures of your meal.
  • Cultural Considerations: Respect cultural practices and traditions surrounding the consumption of roti and rice. In some cuisines, the combination of roti and rice is a common and beloved practice. If it aligns with your cultural background, feel free to embrace and enjoy this culinary tradition.
  • Dietary Goals: Tailor your consumption of roti and rice to align with your specific dietary goals. For weight management or certain health conditions, it may be advisable to limit the quantity of carbohydrates from roti and rice. Consulting a healthcare professional or registered dietitian can provide personalized guidance.

Remember, there is no one-size-fits-all approach to eating roti and rice. The right way to consume them depends on individual preferences, dietary needs, and cultural context. Enjoy your meal in a way that brings you satisfaction, nourishment, and aligns with your overall health goals.

saunf milk

When it comes to maintaining a healthy lifestyle, the choices we make in our diet play a crucial role. While milk has long been hailed as a nutritious beverage, there are ways to enhance its nutritional value and flavor. One such way is by infusing it with saunf, also known as fennel seeds.

Native to the Mediterranean region, saunf is cultivated for its aromatic seeds, which are commonly used as a spice and flavoring agent in various cuisines. The seeds have a sweet, licorice-like flavor and are often chewed as a mouth freshener after meals. Saunf is also popularly used in herbal teas, desserts, and pickles.

When saunf is added to milk, it imparts its numerous health benefits to this already nutrient-rich beverage. Some of the key advantages of consuming saunf-infused milk include:

  • Improved Digestion:

Saunf has been traditionally used as a digestive aid due to its carminative properties. The active compounds in saunf help relax the muscles of the gastrointestinal tract, reducing bloating, flatulence, and indigestion. When infused in milk, saunf can further enhance its digestive benefits, making it an excellent choice for those with digestive issues.

  • Boosted Immunity:

The vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants present in saunf contribute to a strengthened immune system. Regular consumption of saunf-infused milk can help ward off common illnesses by supporting immune function and providing a good dose of vitamin C, which is known for its immune-boosting properties.

  • Respiratory Health:

Saunf is known for its expectorant properties, making it beneficial for respiratory health. The natural compounds in saunf help loosen phlegm and mucus, making it easier to expel. Saunf-infused milk can be particularly soothing for individuals suffering from coughs, congestion, or respiratory conditions like bronchitis.

  • Bone Health:

Calcium and magnesium are essential minerals for maintaining strong bones and teeth. Saunf-infused milk provides a good amount of these minerals, making it a great addition to your diet for promoting bone health and preventing conditions like osteoporosis.

  • Weight Management:

If you’re looking to shed a few pounds or maintain a healthy weight, saunf-infused milk can be a valuable ally. The fiber content in saunf helps promote feelings of fullness, preventing overeating. Additionally, saunf has diuretic properties that can aid in flushing out excess water weight and reducing bloating.

  • Reduced Menstrual Discomfort:

For women experiencing menstrual discomfort, saunf-infused milk may offer relief. Saunf has been used in traditional medicine to alleviate menstrual cramps and discomfort. The anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic properties of saunf can help relax the muscles and ease pain associated with menstruation.

Final Thoughts:

Saunf, with its unique flavor and impressive nutritional profile, has the power to transform ordinary milk into a nutritional powerhouse. By infusing milk with saunf, you can enjoy a range of health benefits, including improved digestion, boosted immunity, respiratory health, and more. Why you shouldn’t squeeze lemon juice on hot food

0
squeeze lemon juice on hot food

Lemon juice is a popular ingredient known for its tangy flavor and acidic properties. It is often used as a garnish or dressing for various dishes, and many people enjoy squeezing fresh lemon juice onto their hot food. However, recent research suggests that this practice may not be as beneficial as previously thought. In this article, we will explore the reasons why you shouldn’t squeeze lemon juice on hot food.

Effects of Heat on Lemon Juice

Heat can have a significant impact on the properties of lemon juice. When exposed to high temperatures, the acidity and flavor of lemon juice can change. The heat can cause the citric acid to break down, leading to a loss of its tartness and potentially altering the taste of the dish. Additionally, prolonged exposure to heat can cause the volatilization of certain flavor compounds present in lemon juice, further diminishing its flavor impact.

Alteration of Flavor and Texture

Squeezing lemon juice on hot food can result in the alteration of both flavor and texture. As mentioned earlier, heat can cause the breakdown of citric acid, leading to a loss of acidity. This can result in a dish tasting less tangy and vibrant than intended. The flavor profile of the food may be compromised, and the delicate balance of flavors may be disrupted.

Furthermore, lemon juice contains enzymes that can break down proteins present in certain foods. While this can be desirable in certain culinary techniques, such as marinating meat, it can negatively affect the texture of delicate ingredients. Squeezing lemon juice on hot food may cause the proteins to denature or curdle, resulting in a less appealing texture.

Nutritional Loss

Heat can also lead to the loss of essential nutrients present in lemon juice. Vitamin C, in particular, is sensitive to heat and can degrade when exposed to high temperatures. By squeezing lemon juice on hot food, you may inadvertently reduce the nutritional value of the dish. Vitamin C is known for its antioxidant properties and is vital for immune function, collagen synthesis, and iron absorption. Consuming lemon juice in its raw form or adding it to cold or room temperature dishes can help preserve these valuable nutrients.

Potential Health Risks

Squeezing lemon juice on hot food may pose certain health risks. When exposed to high temperatures, citric acid can react with other compounds present in the food, such as proteins and sugars, to form potentially harmful substances. One such example is the formation of acrylamide, a chemical compound that has been linked to adverse health effects in studies.

Additionally, lemon juice can contain traces of pesticide residues or other contaminants. While these levels are typically low and considered safe, the heat from hot food can potentially increase the release of these contaminants into the dish, posing a slight risk to health. It is always advisable to wash lemons thoroughly and consider using organic or pesticide-free options when available.

Alternatives to Squeezing Lemon Juice on Hot Food

If you enjoy the tangy flavor and acidity of lemon in your dishes, there are alternative methods to incorporate it without squeezing it directly onto hot food. Here are a few suggestions:

  • Use lemon zest: The outer layer of the lemon peel contains aromatic oils that can provide a similar citrusy flavor. Grating or zesting the lemon peel and adding it as a garnish or seasoning can impart a refreshing taste without the negative effects of heat.
  • Serve lemon wedges: Instead of squeezing lemon juice directly onto hot food, serve lemon wedges on the side. This allows individuals to add lemon juice according to their preference and helps preserve the flavor and nutritional value of the lemon.
  • Use lemon-infused oils or vinegar: Lemon-infused oils or vinegar can be used as a substitute for direct lemon juice. They offer a milder, yet still tangy, flavor and can be added to dishes after cooking or as a dressing.

Final Thoughts:

While squeezing lemon juice on hot food has been a common practice, it is worth reconsidering in light of the potential drawbacks. The heat can alter the flavor, texture, and nutritional content of the lemon juice, diminishing its benefits. Furthermore, there are potential health risks associated with the reaction of citric acid with other compounds when exposed to high temperatures.

Exploring alternative methods of incorporating lemon flavor, such as using zest or serving lemon wedges, can provide a similar taste without the negative effects. By being mindful of how we use lemon juice in cooking, we can enhance our culinary experiences while maximizing its benefits.
