SUN Mobility was established with the goal of revolutionizing the electric mobility sector in India by providing energy infrastructure solutions for electric vehicles. The company aims to address the major concerns of EV adoption, such as range anxiety, long charging times, and high upfront costs.

To achieve this, SUN Mobility has developed a unique battery swapping technology that enables EV users to swap their depleted batteries with fully charged ones at Swap Points. This process takes only a few minutes, and the fully charged battery provides a range equivalent to a full tank of petrol.

Anant Badjatya, CEO, SUN Mobility, said,”By deploying 50,000 electric two-wheelers in Zomato’s fleet, we are reducing our carbon footprint by 5,000 MT/month and contributing to a cleaner environment.”

Mohit Sardana, COO-Food Delivery at Zomato, said,”Our associations in the past and now with SUN Mobility to swap batteries will accelerate the transition to EV-based deliveries, further helping us keep our promise of a sustainable Zomato.”

SUN Mobility’s battery swapping technology is designed to be compatible with a wide range of EVs, including 2-wheelers, 3-wheelers, and cars. The company partners with OEMs, fleet operators, and other stakeholders to provide end-to-end solutions for EV charging infrastructure.

The collaboration with Zomato is a significant milestone for SUN Mobility, as it demonstrates the growing demand for EVs in the last-mile delivery segment. With the rise of e-commerce and online food delivery platforms, last-mile delivery has become a critical component of the logistics industry. Electric 2-wheelers offer a cost-effective and environmentally friendly solution for this segment.

Zomato, which operates in over 500 cities in India, has set a target of using only electric vehicles for its delivery fleet by 2030. The collaboration with SUN Mobility will enable Zomato to accelerate its transition to electric vehicles and contribute to India’s ambitious target of achieving 30% electric mobility by 2030.

SUN Mobility’s collaboration with Zomato is a significant step towards promoting sustainable mobility in India. By providing innovative solutions for EV charging infrastructure, SUN Mobility is helping to create an ecosystem for electric vehicles that is convenient, affordable, and accessible to all.
