Superfoods Valley, a start-up based in Bangalore that specializes in nutrition and food-tech, announced that it has successfully raised $1 million in funding for its flagship brand, Good Monk – A Nutrition Mix, as part of its seed round. The funding was secured through an institutional round led by Multiply Ventures, a Consumer VC fund that focuses on early-stage investments.

This funding will enable Superfoods Valley to increase awareness and provide innovative solutions to combat hidden hunger.

The list of angel investors includes notable CEOs such as Anand Kripalu (formerly of Mondelez, Diageo, and EPL) and Bharat Puri (formerly of Mondelez and Pidilite), as well as Naveen Kukreja (Co-founder of Paisa Bazaar), Manoj Sinha (Co-founder of Husk Power Systems), Chella Pandyan (formerly of Mondelez, CMO at Kimberly Clark, and COO at HealthKart), Navin Talreja, Kawal Shoor (Founders of The Womb Communications), and other talented and enthusiastic creative professionals and filmmakers.

Superfoods Valley has received endorsements and trust from numerous scientific experts in the health and nutrition fields, including respected figures such as Dr. PR Krishnaswamy, the Founder and former Director of the Protein Foods and Nutrition Development Association of India, Dr. B Sesikeran, the former Director of the National Institute of Nutrition, Mrs. Mallika Janakiraman, the Founder of nutriQ360 Degrees, Mrs. Sheela Krishnaswamy, a former IDA President and nutrition and wellness Consultant, and Dr. Shovan Ganguli, an R&D expert with more than 30 years of experience.

Speaking on the announcement Amarpreet Singh Anand, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Superfoods Valley, said, “As parents, we have personally experienced the challenges of getting kids and families to eat healthily, and we recognize the heightened consciousness among Indian families regarding nutrition and health. Moms’ ingenuity inspires us; therefore, we are developing a range of products built on this promise of ‘smuggling nutrition’. Good Monk, our flagship product, is an innovative family’s secret nutrition mix with 13 Nutri herbs that can be added to multiple cooked food and beverages to plug the daily nutrition gap.”

He added, “Currently, we are in the 0 to 1 stage of our journey. We are seeing remarkable growth & repeats in the early stage of our journey. What’s heartening is that the response is coming from across the country – with Good Monk being served across 150+ cities. With the support of our investors, we are excited to continue our mission to make nutrition easy by simplifying knowledge & to smuggle nutrition through food.”

Sanjay Ramakrishnan, partner at Multiply Ventures, said, “We at Multiply Ventures are excited to partner with the team at Superfoods Valley. We are a micronutrient-deficient nation causing all kinds of health issues across all age groups. How can one solve it most compellingly and easily? The Good Monk nutrition mix could be one possibility. Nothing changes for the consumer; they just add a sachet of this mix to daily food caught our attention. A true testament to the brand promise of ‘Nutrition Made Easy’.”
