Bengaluru, also known as Bangalore, is the capital city of the southern Indian state of Karnataka. It is a bustling metropolis and a hub of technological innovation, renowned for its booming IT industry, numerous educational institutions, and beautiful parks and gardens. In recent years, the city has also gained a reputation for its vibrant street food scene, which attracts food enthusiasts from all over India and beyond.

Street food has always been an integral part of Indian culinary culture, providing locals and tourists alike with a quick, affordable, and delicious way to sample the diverse regional flavors and ingredients that make up the country’s rich gastronomic landscape. In Bengaluru, the street food culture is no different, with a plethora of food vendors offering an array of mouth-watering dishes and snacks that reflect the city’s unique blend of traditional and modern cuisine.

The upcoming food street in Yelahanka new town area is set to become the city’s second official food street, after the success of the first one in Visveswarapuram (VV Puram) near the Sajjan Rao circle. The new food street promises to offer a diverse range of Indian cuisine, with roadside shops serving up everything from spicy chaats, crispy dosas, succulent kebabs, and flavorful biryanis to sweet treats such as jalebis, gulab jamuns, and rasgullas.

The project to revamp the 500-meter stretch near Seshadripuram College in Karnataka’s Yelahanka new town area has been a massive undertaking, costing INR 3 crore, and involving a complete transformation of the area. The project included constructing small shops, beautifying the roads, and providing public seating to make the street more pedestrian-friendly. The project also involved installing LED lights, grills of different patterns, and granite stones, making it a unique and visually appealing destination.

Yelahanka zone Executive engineer Sudhakar Reddy explained that the street was previously a dumping ground for garbage. However, BBMP’s efforts have successfully transformed it into a bustling food street, providing locals and tourists alike with a new and exciting culinary destination to explore.

The new food street is expected to attract food lovers from all over Bengaluru and beyond, providing them with an opportunity to indulge in some of the city’s most iconic local delicacies. With the addition of this new food street, Bengaluru’s street food scene is set to become even more vibrant and exciting, solidifying the city’s status as one of India’s top food destinations.
