A Twitter user named Anant posted a photo of the menu, which had a ton of whiskey and beer brands at super low prices, mostly under INR 100. The caption read, “My Bangalore brain can’t handle these prices.” People were shocked when they saw the cheap prices of alcohol at the Navy Officers’ Mess.
Here’s the deal: army personnel get an exemption from the central excise duty, which is why liquor and grocery items are about 10-15% cheaper in military canteens.
