Knowing when to take internet rumors seriously might be tricky. As in the instance of Choco Tacos downfall, they can occasionally start with something as hazy as a screenshot, or they can begin as whispers on social media sites like TikTok, where they quickly catch on.
The Fast Food Post recently published a story about anonymous information it received from a source suggesting that KFC’s popcorn chicken product will soon be discontinued and wholesale replaced by its new chicken nugget product.
This assertion is supported by a few Reddit discussions, including those from a month ago and just over two weeks ago.
A user claiming to be a KFC manager in Florida stated in one thread that “Yes, all locations are removing the popcorn chicken by Jan. 3rd and will be replacing it with all white meat chicken nuggets cooked in the original recipe,” which contradicted some users’ claims that they had difficulty ordering popcorn chicken because it had been discontinued at their local KFC.
It’s crucial to remember that KFC has yet to introduce new nuggets to its online menu. Popcorn chicken is not listed as an a la carte dish, even though tenders are promoted. Popcorn chicken isn’t even mentioned on the menu at all.
It appears strange that KFC would phase out a crucial element of its well-liked Famous Bowls in favor of a product that would alter its reputation. I’m not sure whether it’s just semantics, but naming them “nuggets” makes me think that they would also be larger than the popcorn chicken bits, which makes me question if the replacement chicken would be challenging to eat.
Do you think KFC will still provide popcorn chicken?
The chicken nuggets are still being tested in the Charlotte, North Carolina, area, a KFC spokesman confirmed to The Takeout.
The response from KFC stated that the company is currently testing nuggets in Charlotte and that many of the original stories were false.
