There is a high probability that you have made your way to Majnu ka Tilla (MKT) or Little Tibet, one of Delhi’s hotspots for food destinations.

Mini Dharamshala, MKT, is a vibrant area with the promise of authentic Tibetan cuisine and culture, unique Tibetan facades, warm people and charming cafes. Its rich cuisine culture offers something for everybody.

MKT was named after a Muslim disciple of Guru Nanak Dev Ji who converted his Khanqahn into a Shree Guru Nanak shrine known as Gurudwara Majnu Ka Tilla Sahib. Situated next to Delhi University in Arun Nagar, the quirky lanes lined with prayer flags, quaint cafés and restaurants are an instant hit with students and food lovers.

Coffee Breakfast with tasteful interiors: AMA Cafe

Enjoy super cute interiors with a beautifully brewed cup of coffee or tea wrapped in your palms. AMA Cafe guarantees many Instagram-able moments. However, that’s not all! You can order a hearty Himalayan breakfast, which includes eggs, aloo khasta, tomato chutney, Tingmos, and Tibetan bread. Alternatively, you can request a proper English Breakfast. This place is ideal for catching up with friends over food because it serves the best momos in MKT and has a warm ambience. Continental Platter: Rigo Restaurant

The atmosphere at Rigo makes you feel like you’ve stepped right into McLeod Ganj. This cafe serves everything from Italian to Asian cuisine. From French toast to Kimchi, you will find it all here. Their must-try dishes are Apple beer, sushi, chicken devil momos, Tibetan breakfast, and banana pancakes.

Best views and Dessert: Yamuna Cafe

As the name suggests, this stunning cafe is located right on the banks of the Yamuna River, offering breathtaking views. The restaurant is famous for the best desserts, pasta, and pizzas. Pancakes cost 60 Rs each, and various breakfast items are available. Oatmeal, fruit salads, and scrambled eggs are all options. However, some of their must-try dishes are Chicken Arrabiata Pasta and Smoke Chicken Pizza, margarita, and pancakes.

Laphing

A traditional Tibetan dish that will leave you wanting more. It’s a spicy, cold mung bean noodle dish in every corner of Majnu ka Tilla. Laphing translates to “cold noodle.”

Tingmo

Tingmo is a humble, fluffy, flower-shaped steamed bun that will melt in your mouth. A visual treat, Tingmos pair well with chilli pork.

Thenthuk

Another popular Tibetan dish that you should try at Majnu ka Tilla. Thenthuk is a Tibetan hand-pulled noodle soup with vegetables, chicken, and pork. The warm soup is delicious and highly soothing to the taste buds.

Shaphley

It is a crunchy snack filled with chicken, pork, beef, or other meat stuffing. It’s deep-fried and served with tangy chutney.

How to reach there

1. Majnu ka Tilla is accessible via Vidhan Sabha metro station on the yellow line

2. Avoid bringing your car.

3. The ISBT Kashmiri Gate bus stand is hardly five minutes from here.
