Negative impact on cognitive function:

Eating a breakfast high in sugar can negatively impact a child’s cognitive function. Studies have shown that a diet high in sugar can impair learning and memory, affecting a child’s ability to concentrate and perform well academically.

So, what are some better options for a healthy and nutritious breakfast for children? One option is to choose whole-grain bread or toast and pair it with a protein-rich topping, such as peanut butter, eggs, or Greek yogurt. Whole-grain bread is made with the entire grain, including the bran, germ, and endosperm, which provides more fiber and nutrients than refined bread.

 Pairing whole-grain bread with a protein-rich topping can help to balance blood sugar levels, increase feelings of fullness, and provide important nutrients for growing children.

Another option is to choose a breakfast that includes a variety of nutrient-dense foods, such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins. This could include oatmeal with fresh berries and nuts, a vegetable omelet with whole-grain toast, or a smoothie made with Greek yogurt, spinach, and frozen fruit.
