Bedmi Poori: A Breakfast Snack for Everyone who loves Indian Cuisine

[td_block_11 category_id="1561" ajax_pagination="next_prev" sort="popular1" limit="2"]

If you’re a fan of Indian cuisine, you’re likely familiar with the fragrant and flavourful Bedmi poori. This classic dish is a favorite throughout North India, where it’s often enjoyed for breakfast or as a midday snack.

One of the things that makes bedmi poori so special is its unique texture. Unlike regular pooris, which are made solely from wheat flour, bedmi pooris are soft and fluffy on the inside, thanks to the addition of urad dal. The urad dal also gives the bread a distinct flavor and aroma that’s hard to resist.

It is often served with a delicious side of spicy aloo sabzi, a potato curry that’s loaded with aromatic spices, tangy tomatoes, and fresh cilantro. The combination of the fluffy pooris and the savory potato curry is simply irresistible!

If you want to try your hand at making bedmi poori at home, it’s actually quite simple. Here’s a basic recipe to get you started:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup urad dal flour
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp coriander seeds
  • 1/2 tsp fennel seeds
  • 1/4 tsp red chili powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil  for deep-frying

Instructions:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, urad dal flour, cumin seeds, coriander seeds, fennel seeds, red chili powder, and salt.
  2. Add enough water to the bowl to form a soft, pliable dough.
  3. Knead the dough for a few minutes until it’s smooth and elastic.
  4. Divide the dough into small balls and roll each one out into a thin circle.
  5. Heat oil in a deep frying pan and fry each circle until golden brown and crispy.
  6. Serve hot with a side of spicy potato curry and sweet tamarind chutney.

Whether you enjoy it for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, this delicious bread is sure to satisfy your cravings for something warm, comforting, and absolutely delicious. So why not try making it at home and discover the joy of bedmi poori for yourself?
